MegaManFan #1 Posted November 10, 2005 Has anybody ever taken a 32X and a Genesis apart and PERMANENTLY mounted them together in one custom-made case, with just one set of power and video coming out of it? This would solve almost all of the problems hooking it up in the first place. If I could buy one built like this, I might actually give 32X games a second chance. Clint Thompson #2 Posted November 10, 2005 Sega did it... they called it a Neptune but never released it... the bastards. I would have liked to own a Neptune.... I'm not sure how you could do the housing for it to look decent. I like cosmetics right there next to functionality... it's hand-in-hand.
Classic Pac #3 Posted November 10, 2005 But as an owner of a working 32x liet me tell you there aren't many good games for it, and some of them are down right awful.
jsoper #4 Posted November 10, 2005 But then you'd need another genny to use the power base converter and genesis Virtua Racing.
MegaManFan #5 Posted November 10, 2005 And that's not a problem really. Genesis litter the landscape like weeds; even at the overpriced game store here in town you can pick up a complete package (deck, controllers, power supply, cords) for $20 with tax. I've got Mark 1, 2, and 3 not to mention a JVC X-Eye. I'd happily sacrifice one Genesis to make a permanent 32-X deck and keep another around for PBC and Virtua Racing. jsoper #6 Posted November 10, 2005 A lot of 32x problems can be fixed by opening up and unplugging and replugging the white ribbon cables a few times. If you bypass those by soldering direct wires, that would help a lot too.
Famicoman #7 Posted November 10, 2005 You could connect your Mars and Gesesis together. That would look awesome. Might take a while though.
Ze_ro #8 Posted November 11, 2005 I'd love to see someone manage to stuff a Genesis, 32X and SegaCD together into a Saturn case.... It would probably be an awfully tight fit though. --Zero
JB #9 Posted November 11, 2005 (edited) I've heard of the 32x-in-a-Genny being done. Let me look it up... There we go. Big sticking point is you have to use SHORT wires to connect the 32x to the Genny, or you get errors. Edited November 11, 2005 by JB
JB #11 Posted November 11, 2005 A. Tripod blocks off-site image links. B. I'd LOVE to mount one of those on my SCD...
Bill Brasky #12 Posted November 11, 2005 I've never had any problems hooking up the 32X. I never understood how some people have such problems with it. There's not that much to it.
