birdie3 #1 Posted November 12, 2005 I haven't had too much trouble determining the rarity of this cartridge. Would any of the reputable collectors here mind giving me thier opinion on the aproximate cash value for a Pastfinder cartridge? Thanks in adavance. Tempest #2 Posted November 12, 2005 Maybe $25-$30. It's pretty rare for an Activision game, but I've seen a few. Tempest
birdie3 #3 Posted November 12, 2005 That's pretty close to what I figured. That seems to be the going rate for most rare to semi-rare A8 cartridge games. Ususally from $15 to $30 or somewhere in between. It's not the price that hurts.. It's actually finding a copy - especially one that is in good condition. Thanks. tjlazer #4 Posted November 12, 2005 (edited) I have like 4 loose Pastfinders and one MIB. I paid $50 for the MIB one, and around $40 to $50 for the loose ones each (It came in lots of other very common ones and had placed a bid on two at the same time once at one point) LOL If you are looking for one I would be willing to sell it for what I paid. mikeb #6 Posted December 20, 2007 (edited) Check your mail tjlazer. Weirdly enough I spoke to David Lubar for a 'Making Of' feature of this game, and he said he doesn't think the game made much of a splash because Ghostbusters was released around the same time, and Activision's marketing dept were concentrating on pushing that. It appears the game must have got a rather limited release, is the disc version fairly scarce in the US also? Edited December 20, 2007 by mikeb
www.atarimania.com #7 Posted December 20, 2007 The disk releases of either Pastfinder or Space Shuttle - A Journey into Space are mega rare and were distributed in the US only. The Atari version of Pastfinder never officially made it to Europe. -- Atari Frog http://www.atarimania.com
deathtrappomegranate #8 Posted December 21, 2007 At the risk of sounding like a 2600 collector, it's worth noting that, like other Activision titles, the cartridge also exists as an Australian variant. The Oz version has a plastic clamshell case, unlike the US version's cardboard box (which also has a gatefold front section). The Oz cart label is cropped slightly differently, and a different PCB is used, probably because the Oz version was made by HES. The values quoted above are probably fair enough, although the boxed ones sometimes go for a little more. The Australian version is less common than the US one, unless you are in Australia or New Zealand.
deathtrappomegranate #9 Posted December 21, 2007 Incidentally, I noticed that we were missing the instructions on Atarimania, so I've uploaded them: http://www.atarimania.com/detail_soft.php?...VERSION_ID=3898

I'd be more inclined to guess that it didn't make much of a splash because it's complicated, slow, and tedious.

I still play it quite a lot via emulation.
birdie3 #12 Posted January 6, 2008 I eventually bought this for $15 USD loose if that tells you anything.
