Cybergoth #1 Posted November 14, 2005 Hi there! I'm trying to compile a list of Konami games which are available for the VCS. So far I can think of these: Amidar Frogger Gyruss Marine Wars Pooyan Roc 'N Rope Strategy X Super Cobra Time Pilot Track & Field Tutankham Greetings, Manuel

+FujiSkunk #3 Posted November 14, 2005 Frogger was from Sega 965324[/snapback] Frogger was indeed by Konami. Sega distributed it in the States. Yes, a Japanese company got into the American distribution game.

Cybergoth #6 Posted November 14, 2005 Hi there! Frogger 2 seems to be strange though. I think that Sega as U.S. distributor just gave Parker the license to produce a Frogger sequel and that Frogger 2 in fact is a unique creation from Parker and no Konami game. Greetings, Manuel

Similarly, the 1997 3D remake of Frogger is a Hasbro creation. Edited November 14, 2005 by skunkworx

Wasn't it after the crash that it was bought by the Japanese? I could swear I remember reading that somewhere.
shadow460 #9 Posted November 15, 2005 The back of my daddy's Frogger cab said Sega/Gremlin. Who actually developed the game, I can't say. It probably was Konami.

From what I heard, Sega was owned by Gulf & Western, the same company that owned Paramount back in those times.

Sega was formed in Japan, before it was sold to Gulf and Western. Even under G&W ownership, most of Sega's video game hits were created and/or popularized in Japan. After the crash, G&W sold the American assets to Bally, but Sega's original founder teamed up with Japanese investors to give the company a rebirth in Japan. I still say Sega was a Japanese company, even then. They just happened to have more of an American presense than Namco or Konami did at the time.
