Kangaroo

Recommended Posts

I recently have found a Kangaroo arcade game and am curious as to it's value? It's in it's original cabinet with the artwork and IMO is in good shape. What is a good price to pay for this game? This would be my first Arcade game to own and I am very new to this part of collecting. Any info would be appreciated. Thank you. :)

They auction around 250-275 at the ones I go to. Sort of an off-brand machine, if you will. You should not be paying more than 400 for it (maybe 600 if it has a BRAND NEW monitor and a new/nos overlay).

As long as its a game that you like, its worth what you think is fair. If you REALLY have to have it and its 800, although high. might be worth it to you. Up to you man. Good luck with it and send some pics if you get it.

Finally, someone replied! lol Well the one I found is $375, but I'm going to try and talk him down a tad. It's been sitting in the same spot for a long time now and I think if I offer $300-$325 he might take it. The cabinet was in decent shape too. Thanks for your input Cassidy. I'll post pics if I do get it. My attention has been distracted by another game at the moment. I used to love playing Pigskin Footbrawl and I found one of those too, just trying to decide what it's value is. Does anyone know of a website that has values of Arcade games or rarity?

The rarity of arcades is a touchy subject. There are two books out there that I know of. One is by Dave Ellis (more recent) and covers consoles too. The older one (that got a great deal of heat when it came out) was by Dan Hower and a number of other arcade collectors around 2000. Both of which are good general giudes but I would stay away from using it like a "bible" of values.

Amazon has Ellis' book and I think you could hunt around arcadeflyers.com to get a copy of the latter. Its such a subjective thing on arcade prices. There are so many people that see original and restored being such different prices. For example, a beat up all-original Ms. Pac is worth more to me than a brand new fake one. Thats not true to everybody. Buy what you love and you will be happy :)
