Who thinks I'll be able to snag a 360 tomorrow?

Recommended Posts

It's going to check out some stores tomorrow and see what happens. I'm not going when they open but maybe at 11am or so. I'm thinking places like Walmart, Target and Sears. I figure I can at least play it a week and it the prices shoot up sell it on Ebay.

Well, you won't find one. You're looking in the wrong places. Try looking for places off the beaten path, that most others wouldn't think to go to right away. When the DS came out and all the regular stores were wiped out, the Movie Trading Company had them. Same with the Xbox, when nearly all large retail stores were sold out for Christmas a couple of years ago.

Yeah...I don't think you'll pick one up and the popular stores, either. You have to search in the crannies for this system (as of today). I guess the stores were open at midnight to sell what copies they had (at least I'm sure Gamestop was). Ebay's prices are really outrageous, but the bids are even more stunning on the more expensive models being bidded on.

It will be difficult around this neck of the woods. The GameStop in Owasso actually opened their doors last night at Midnight and started selling the 360 then! It was on the news!!! I can't believe that they were the only ones in the area doing this...

Doesn't matter, I haven't seen anything immediate for the 360 gamewise that I have to have. I will definitely wait some time before I jump into any of the upcoming next gen systems.

I thought I'd be able to cruise into Target at 8am and get one without a hassle. Turns out they distributed 12 tickets at 6am, closed, then reopened.

My GF will be at Costco anyway at lunchtime today -- she'll grab a bundle for me in the slim likelihood there will be any left.

I'm annoyed at having to jump through nonsense retail hoops to spend a lot of money on a toy. I'll wait until they're easier to come by.

I don't have a reason to buy an Xbox 360 until Oblivion comes out, and even that I may end up getting for the PC instead if I can upgrade my computer by then.

I don't want to play a bunch of boring sports and racing games...

Your chances are close to 0%. Why not wait a few months until they have fixed all the bugs and a second run is released? Most of the time, launch time systems have problems with them that are fixed in later revisions.

Where did he think you were for 15 hours?

Oh well. I hit a few places and they were sold out. So then I tried calling a few places and they had busy signals for a while. I'm still going to try a K-mart that I think most people wouldn't go to but they probably won't have any either.

Was looking at EB online and they are taking orders for delivery of the 360 in January or February 2006!

And they are still forcing bundles on you as they offer two packages: $600 and $700.

Yawn... I'll just keep playing Half Life, Call of Duty 2, Mario Kart DS, Warcraft, etc and let those with money have all the fun

Well we don't live together and he had a night class so I told him I'd be in bed before he was finished. So yea that worked out.

As far as it was interesting well it was my first time waiting for a game system and just the atmosphere and the ppl made it interesting. Everyone was nice and considerate we played football, pitched large 10 person tents on concrete, and tried keeping eachother warm in 20 degree weather. Overall it was a good experiance I'd do it again.

So I went to that K-mart and saw they didn't have any but I asked the one lady in the electronics dept. about them. She threw me a crazy look. I guess she couldn't believe be someone was asking about them as late as I was. She said they were no more Xbox 360s but they may get more in soon. She looked like had a rough day.

Poor woman. I'd imagine all the retailers that day (especially the ones that had to answer the phones) were losing it. My wife checked and found out that two hours after the stores opened that day, they were gone (as I assumed they would be).

It just occured to me that CompUSA stores were carrying Xbox 360s. That would have been a good place to camp out in front of on launch day. Not that many people would consider waiting at a computer store for a game console. The CompUSA thing popped into my head when I looked online for post-Thanksgiving sales, and CompUSA has games and accessories for the 360 on sale today.
