Mister VCS #1 Posted May 6, 2001 I think the 2600A is a very cheap low-cost version of the 2600. The picture on the screen is very fuzzy at many games. When you hit the select or reset-switch you see white points on the screen. Is there a difference between the woodgrain and the black 2600A?
Eduardo #2 Posted May 6, 2001 Well the 2600A is indeed a low cost/revised version of the 6-switch model. I own both models but I don't see such relevant difference in display quality, I think the 2600A model is actually very good too. If you compare both units internally you will find major changes. The original 6-switch model have 2 circuit boards and a THICK shell covering the chipset. The 2600A is made in a single circuit board and the thick shell is replaced by a thin aluminum shield. I don't think that the 2600A is that bad as you mention. If you compare it with a 2600Jr then you will realize the 2600A is built like a tank (not like the heavy sixer but is very robust), try it one day and you will notice that even if the 2600A was a 'revised model' still is an overkill.
