silverpoodleman #1 Posted November 23, 2005 I had the opportunity to purchase a Mega Drive Console and Shining Force 2 for a very good price today. I hesitated because I started thinking about getting Mega Drive Games. I see them all the time on ebay, but they are usually shipping from Europe or Australia (I live in the USofA). I guess this question is directed at people who own Mega Drive consoles and purchase Mega Drive games - are there places in the US that sell Mega Drive games? Are they reasonably priced? A follow up question has to do with the titles of the games - the MD games have unique titles that are different from any Genesis games. Obviously, there are considerably more soccer titles and even a rugby and cricket title (which I would love...I think). But are familiar games titeled differently? For example - Is Madden '96 called American High Kickers on Cocaine 4? Is NBA '95 called Guaranteed Millionaire Tiddly-Winkers? Seriously though, I did see a dodgeball title though Average Joe's and Global Gym were not mentioned.
J.Max #2 Posted November 23, 2005 A couple of things. First of all, Genesis/Mega Drive games don't have region protection for the most part, so if you have a Genesis, you don't really need a Mega Drive console. Second of all, be aware that if you buy a PAL (European) console, it won't work on most US TVs and if you buy a Japanese system, certain games will display only Japanese text even if it's the American version of the game. Personally, I think it's a waste of money to buy a Japanese Mega Drive when you can get a US one cheap, and the games are EXACTLY the same.
