Cousin Vinnie #1 Posted May 5, 2002 This is a long way off, but I was thinking of designing a 7800 game that included all of Atari's stars, much like Nintendo does with the Mario characters or Super Smash Bros. If you were the designer of a game like this, who would you pick? Here's my thoughts: 1) Sly from Tower Toppler 2) Bently Bear from Crystal Castles 3) Yar from Yar's Revenge 4) The guy from Hero 5) Rhindle the Red from Adventure 6) Pitfall Harry 7) Scraps from Scrap Yard Dog The Ninja Golfer from Ninja Golf 9) That kid from Midnight Mutants 10) The pilot from Star Raiders/ Solaris? What do you guys think? Cousin Vinnie www.bigfishusa.com
ubersaurus #2 Posted May 6, 2002 Well, You;d have to go with Atari characters, which would exclude Pitfall Harry and HERO dude. And I think the frog from Tower Toppler as well.
Ze_ro #3 Posted May 6, 2002 Well, as long as we don't limit it to the 2600, we could always include: Dirty Larry (From the Lynx game) Chip (From Chip's Challenge) The guy from Xybots Sauron (Primal Rage) Nazrac (T-Mek) Iron Soldier (Does this thing have a name?) Trevor McFur Officer Bob (A.P.B.) The Paperboy (name?) The Centipede Agent X (Cloak & Dagger) Red Warrior (Gauntlet) Major Havoc The Marble (Marble Madness) A Pong Paddle (Hell, if we have a marble...) Unfortunately, most of Atari's games don't really have a character, like Asteroids, or Missile Command, so almost all of Atari's best known games would be unrepresented. Unless you could do something like have a player fly around the screen in the Asteroids ship while a second player tried to fire missiles at them from their three turrets (Actually, that sounds like it would be a decent game) --Zero
Ze_ro #4 Posted May 6, 2002 I almost forgot, Buzz, Kato or Ty from Pit Fighter would be perfect for a game like this. I guess the "Guardians of the Hood" would work too, but Pit Fighter is way more popular. --Zero
ubersaurus #5 Posted May 6, 2002 Go with the Pong Stick. I mean, if nintendo can have Mr Game and Watch, Atari needs their equivalent ;p
