cimerians #51 Posted December 5, 2005 (edited) How can you love Intellivision if your here?????? Atari was the butt of jokes and George Plimpton commercials for Mattel and their Blue Sky goofballs for years. Atari VS. Intellivision thats all I remeber hearing back then. I hated Intellivision then and really don't care for it today. They are still the enemy and still lost to Stella! Any system back then is better than Intellivsion! Them and those rip off games and sports garbage..... Hhhahhhahhha!!!!! Edited December 5, 2005 by cimerians
JB #52 Posted December 5, 2005 How can you love Intellivision if your here?????? Atari was the butt of jokes and George Plimpton commercials for Mattel and their Blue Sky goofballs for years. Simple: It's all in the past. 'S like Nintendo and Sega. They went at it for years. That hasn't stopped me from having a Genesis sharing a TV with my NES and SNES. My Dreamcast could learn a lesson or 2 from me. It just got in another fistfight with the PS2.

1980gamer #56 Posted December 6, 2005 Have had and still have both Intellivision and Colecovision systems. The Intellivision controller is so much better than the CV. Thank God you can plug a 2600 stick in for most games on the CV. The big problem with Intellivision is 2 player games. When it was first released most games required 2 players. The Super Pro games fixed this. Burgertime for the Intellivision is the best of any system. Bump N' Jump is also awesome. Better than NES and Coleco etc. Avoid an Intellivision 2 at all cost. Those controllers do SUCK. Non responsive buttons and I understand the "HATE" of the Intellivision if that is your exposer. 2 words that make the Intellivision the better choice.... Hover Force! I like both systems, and how can you go wrong if the price is right. PS the 5200 had the worst controller of ALL TIME.
doubledown #57 Posted December 11, 2005 No more questions! From a gamer's stand point I'd say that the ColecoVision is a ton better, not to mention a far superior list of 3rd party controllers available for it for all of those who complain about the standard controller. From a modder's stand point I'd say that the ColecoVision is a ton better, a lot more options and upgrades are available. (see above picture) 974383 holy crap!!!! i never saw those rca's on the back of any colecovision i owned! where did you get one with those rcas on the back!?!?!?!?!?! 976504 I live with this guy who looks exactly like me, who is as smart as me, and as good looking as me and I had him make it up for me. Unfortunately cololred RCA jacks weren't available in 1982 or Coleco would have installed them, themselves.
Famicoman #58 Posted December 11, 2005 I really have no preference. The graphics on ColecoVision are far superior. But I seriously like the Intelly controller.
Seob #59 Posted December 11, 2005 (edited) I like both. Can't say i have a favorite. I like to play them as much as i like to play a a2600 or videopac. And for the controller issue, they are all bad for your hands. Playing for 20 minutes with a a2600 controller isn't a blessing either. Ergonomicly are the current gamecontrollers way better. (all though i have my thougt on the Nintendo Revolution controllers). Edited December 11, 2005 by Seob
ILA2600 #60 Posted January 5, 2006 I remember being at a mall yeaaars ago called the Medowbrook Mall in Rochester Michigan, and I walked in a videogame store in the back area of the mall, ( there was a big cider mill in there and the stores were around it ) and I saw the Colecovision for the first time, I vividly remember they had the Smurf game to play, I played it a couple of times and I was hooked, to this day I still have my Colecovision that my Mom and Dad bought for me back in 84', I would have to say the Colecovision, I was like a Moth to a flame when I first saw the Colecovision!!! DeV0 #61 Posted January 5, 2006 The inty controller really is quite ok once you get used to it. On the other hand the cv controller is nothing brilliant. I probably play more inty but when i pull the cv out i always put a 2600 Pad in. The cv is more superior graphically i think, but i really like inty Pitfall and Pacman,,, hmmmmmm, Obvious;y im confused, I like both about the same
thegamezmaster #62 Posted January 5, 2006 I've had both and like the Colecovision a lot better.
+uosipa llamxew #63 Posted January 5, 2006 I had an Intellivision II growing up with about 30 games. It was my second console, alongside my VCS, and so I will always have a soft spot for it. I loved playing games like Tron - Deadly discs, Utopia, Bump 'N' Jump, etc. As someone already mentioned, the Intellivision has the best console port of Burgertime ever! We also had the ECS expansion; I watched my brother animate a black bat on the screen before he decided that programming wasn't his thing. I spent a lot of time composing my own music (noise) on the keyboard. Back then, with all of its little gimmicks, the Intellivision seemed so very advanced beyond the VCS. The controllers sucked though, it's undeniable. In a fit of nostalgia, I bought myself an Intellivision I in a thrift store about 10 years ago. The controllers are a ton better than the Intellivision II controllers! Still, I understand the hatred for those blasted side buttons! I only saw a ColecoVision once as a kid. When I was 11 or 12, my friend's dad had rented the machine and we tried to hook it up and play while he was away at work. When we finally got it set up, we realized there were no games to play. I never saw or heard anything about the ColecoVision for years after that until I got online and looked up "classic videogames". I bought my ColecoVision a couple of years ago. It's quickly become one of my favorite gaming machines with all of its fantastic arcade ports. I recently bought one of Richard Hutchinson's multi-console adapters for my VecFlash and have been able to play more of the ColecoVision library... it's been quite a trip! I'm also a big fan of the ColecoVision's thriving homebrew scene. As you see, I am quite fond of both machines. If I had to choose one ore the other, I would have to choose my ColecoVision; I'm really glad that I don't have to choose between them though.

DeV0 #66 Posted January 5, 2006 Of course, Inty Burgertime is without doubt the best port. As for beef drop, well the 5200 was never released here.
BydoEmpire #67 Posted January 6, 2006 I guess since the Inty was the first system my family ever got, my loyalties (and play time) is there. While I've had a Colecovision for years now, I just haven't enjoyed any of the games (save maybe Venture and Mr. Do!) as much as the games I've played on the Intellivision. That said, I only have a dozen or so Colecovision games, and I never had one back in the day so my judgement is probably a little skewed. FWIW, I find the stock Coleco sticks terribly uncomfortable - worse than the Inty's. After I got a sports stick I enjoyed my Colecovision much, much more. darklord1977 #70 Posted March 31, 2006 I reccomend the Coleco. Visually it is a bit easier on the eyes, graphically speaking it looks better, and I think the games for it are awesome. It whomps all over the Intellivision in my opinion. colecovision hands down! i was never a intellivision fan my cousin had intellivision he didnt like it either he always wanted to play my colecovision
brendano #71 Posted April 1, 2006 I like the INTV more. The games, controllers, everything. And I don't know anything about how much easier it is to mod the CV but I recently modded my INTV for composite (I don't need S-Video or component because my TV dosen't have those). Besides, alot of the Coleco titles came out for INTV and while these ports may be the butt of jokes I enjoy them.
jaybird3rd #72 Posted April 1, 2006 (edited) I recently modded my INTV for composite ...Just out of curiosity, which composite mod did you use? I built this one for my Intellivision II, but I'm having trouble with the video output (lots of noise and interference patterns). brendano #73 Posted April 1, 2006 Just out of curiosity, which composite mod did you use? I built this one for my Intellivision II, but I'm having trouble with the video output (lots of noise and interference patterns). I used jsoper's mod because it was very simple. When I tried it after I was surprised at how well it worked. I did skip the capacitor to filter down the colors because when I tried it on a bread-board it seemed to weaken the signal too much. I also used the highest quality wire and tried to keep the wires short to avoid interference and the RF modulator still works as a result. Also, I own an INTV System III so I tapped the LED's power wire for my 5v source. But otherwise I followed it exactly and it works perfectly.
