Intellivision vs. Colecovision: Which 1 you like?

Recommended Posts

I'm partial to the Intellivision since that's what I had growing up. The controllers aren't bad at all (though the INTV II's weren't nearly as responsive). It took some time to get use to the controller sure but I had no probbies. Now I gotta go finish my INTV collection...

they both hold a certain special place in my heart :)

the colecovision was the first one - my uncle moved in with us for 2 years and he had this system as soon as it came out. i got to play it only when he was otherwise it was locked up :(

then when he moved out a buddy down the street got one and i remember playing tutankham untill my hands bled

then in highschool at 15 my first girlfriend had an intellivision in her basement, oh boy the makeout sessions after a game of happy trails were the best :lust:

i have both systems and i like the colecovison more

I remember in the 80's all those intellivision vs atari vcs/2600 commercials with George Plimpton.Intellivision apparently had the vcs beat in the sporting games category,i remember everyone(the jocks)at school all had an intellivision ,and kept saying how vcs sport games totally suck compared to the intellivision, the intellivision was geared towards sports games, but had to throw in arcade style games to to keep up with the other systems, and satisfy the arcade fans, all pretty obvious, but, thats what i remember from the 80's atari 2600 vs intellivision war that was going on,i figure its pretty much a matter of opinion though.

Oops, sorry, went off topic, colecovision is the system i'd pick over the intellivision, even though the cv is a little slow at side scrolling, the games are still way better

I'm not a big fan of either, but I'd go Intelly.

Both contrillers suck, so you can toss that out of the equation.

I like Intellivision for it's strategy games. Coleco had some decent ports of (mostly) second-rate arcade games, but that mini joystick makes a chore to play Time Pilot for more than a few minutes.

although i do love both the CV and INTV, Cloudy Mountain, Nightstalker, Astrosmash and Demon Attack put the Telly ahead just a little, i really enjoy sitting back with Demon attack or Astrosmash with the autofire on, playing with one hand

I've been playing both since they first came out and vote for Colecovision. The main reason I use my INTV is for Burgertime (the best version) and B-17 bomber 'cause I love the Intellivoice module - it is one of the best "retro" gaming experiences.
