Gunstar #1 Posted December 1, 2005 (edited) I was browsing this site; http://atari-ste.anvil-soft.com/index.htm looking through the "archive" which has a list of STE compatible/enhanced software with a few for download. Anyway, I came across 'Ultimem' at the bottom of the application section, and I think this is the PD program that manages memory so that if you have compatibility problems stemming from being over 2.5MB, this program will fix that problem. While I don't believe I've had any problems along this line yet anyway, I'd like to get this program to have just in case. Anyone know where I can download it from? It is listed as PD program. Thanks. The second question has to do with software and STE hardware itself. Something I would know, probably, if I had the owners manuals, but I don't. It's about the dip switches in the Mega/STE. What are they for? I had (obviously) noticed them when I had opened up my MSTE for the FPU upgrade, but I forgot about them until now, when I saw the program 'dip(s?)' on the same page at the site above that I found the 'Ultimem' program. It's apparently a convenient little program that allows software cookies to change the DIP switch settings. But I don't evn know what they are for yet. Thanks again for any help. Oh, and this progam is also not downloadable from the site, if anyone can direct me to a download for it as well. Thanks Edit: I stated above the list at that site is a STE compatiblity list, it's actually an STE enhanced/only list apparently, so no need to reply that it's a vastly incomplete list for "compatibility," it's not meant to be. Sorry. Edited December 1, 2005 by Gunstar
Tempest #2 Posted December 2, 2005 I'm pretty sure they had something to do with the hard drive. I don't think all of them were used. http://groups.google.com/group/comp.sys.at...6056798c4162df7 Tempest
atarian1 #3 Posted December 2, 2005 I know DIP switch #7 is the high density disk drive enable switch. Don't know about the others.
reesclissold #4 Posted December 7, 2005 I don't know if you're aware, but the standard STE doesn't have these DIP switches. So I think I'll go with Tempest and say they're something to do with the hard drive. Any luck finding any info on them yet?

krupkaj #6 Posted December 10, 2005 Not in CPX but GEM desktop dialog. I think it is for both MEGA STE and TT030.
