Trade-N-Games #1 Posted December 2, 2005 I got a Color Bar Generator made by Video Soft with instructions a few days ago on Ebay And I bid ALOT more than I won it for. I emailed the seller a few times and he posted my questions each time. I was happy to get this after years of looking and only saw one in person at CGE 2 years ago and the seller wanted big money. Something real cool was it had the bill of sale order on the back of the instructions $23.95 plus $1.70 shipping dated 2/1/85. Just wanted to share my early Christmas gift to myself and this is going right into my personal collection. Jason Trade-N-Games

bones #4 Posted December 2, 2005 Cool score. What's amazing to me is the original purchase date -- I can't imagine fixing 2600s was a hot business by 1985.
MegaManFan #5 Posted December 2, 2005 I'm gonna say what I always say in a case like this: DAMN! HOW DID I MISS OUT? Congrats on an awesome score!
MattG/Snyper2099 #6 Posted December 3, 2005 I can't believe that the guy who bid nearest me only bid $60! You could have won it for $60 otherwise. You got it very cheap in my honest opinion. It's worth twice what you paid.
gospeedde #7 Posted December 3, 2005 I'm pretty sure the 60 was me. I was out of atari money and only bid in case noone had found it and I got really lucky. I was highly amused when I saw how close you were to getting it for 60 dollars. I was trying to picture what your face would have looked like had you won it for that. O and dont forget the wonderful Paypal code that also saved me $25 bucks. Thanks to CPU posting that. Yes I know its worth a good amount more but i have passed on 1 or 2 over the years so It paid off for waiting.

Tempest 975898[/snapback] Yup, you can still buy color bar generators, and test pattern generators of all kinds. Usually they are a standalone unit that you plug into either a tv or any RGB color monitor. Using a 2600 for this purpose wouldn't be useful in the field, but if you had a test bench where you fixed tv's it would be very useful.

If you didn't bid Jason would have had it for less but not by much.
