Atariboy2600 #1 Posted December 6, 2005 Today one of my friend just came back from Wal-Mart and got me a Polaroid 15-in-1 Game Controller that just came out I think. Since when Polaroid started making games? As I played it it's sound like old NES sound and music and the grafx looks like C64 games. Does anyone else seen this yet? Polarid 15-in-1 Controller. SomeGuyWithDSL #2 Posted December 6, 2005 Polaroid first shipped these units with their portable DVD players last year, to help keep kids occupied on the road. Didn't know they were available separately now. Never played one ... I don't expect too much.
christianscott27 #3 Posted December 6, 2005 they're usually seen bundled with cheap portable DVD players at target. it such a shame about polaroid, a household name brought low by bankruptcy. its like rivers west and the coleco name, that sorry thing has nothing to do with the classic instant cameras. JimmydelaKopin #4 Posted December 6, 2005 So that makes three knock-off plug-in games controllers Wal-Mart sells: Polaroid Maxx ...and the generic Kid Connection. What amazes me is that Wal-Mart still carries so much name-brand merchandise...and yet also carries so much knock-off merchandise. Then again, when you move as much product as Wal-Mart does, I guess the manufacturers will put up with the chain promoting piracy as long as it generates huge sales for them. SteveW #5 Posted December 6, 2005 It's sad to see Polaroid in such a poor state, but they honestly brought it on themselves through bad management. A couple of years ago, they declared bankrupsy and went through the whole reoranization thing. But right before declaring bankrupsy, all the upper management received bonuses totalling 19 million dollars. Why would the people who were running the company into the ground receive bonuses? It sounds like another Tyco/Worldcom/Enron type situation, where greed overpowers reason. Pelican makes some X-in-1 type handhelds inside the same type of controller. I wonder if this thing might be a better looking, rebadged version of Pelican's handhelds?
Mindfield #6 Posted December 6, 2005 I was going to get one those Polaroid units, but decided against it when I discovered it takes several minutes after pressing "start" for anything to appear on the screen.
yuppicide #7 Posted December 7, 2005 For $15 bucks more you can get yourself a Famiclone with two wireless controllers, 72 games and a port to plug in Famicom (or NES with adapter) games.
Jess Ragan #8 Posted December 7, 2005 I was going to get one those Polaroid units, but decided against it when I discovered it takes several minutes after pressing "start" for anything to appear on the screen. 977674[/snapback] It could be worse. Have you played the Coleco Head-to-Head TV Unit? You'll be praying for minute-long load times after that traumatic experience. JR
Mindfield #9 Posted December 7, 2005 The "minutes to display" thing was a joke. Y'know. Polaroid film-- oh never mind. The moment passed.
Lemmi #10 Posted December 7, 2005 i own the polaroid portable dvd player with the game controller, and i cant use the controller on the TV by itself (unless there is an adaptor out there) i have to use it through the dvd player, which sucks
Flojomojo #11 Posted December 7, 2005 How about some game reviews, please? BTW - this may well suck, but I seriously doubt it's a "knockoff" in any legal sense. Being a Famiclone in and of itself isn't illegal.
Lemmi #12 Posted December 7, 2005 on game reviews - i only played 4 games of the 30 in the controller, and i got bored out of my mind so i packed it all up i played Runner Car Bumper Car Zero Tiger Catch the Egg these games arent even NES quality
