What MOVIES had an Atari 2600

I only know of three movies that had an Atari 2600 in it (or at least I hope it was an 2600)

 

Revenge of the Nerds (Wormser is playing)

The Boy Who Could Fly (Fred Savage is playing it)

Over the Top (the trucker/arm wrestling movie with Sly Stone...I swear his "son" or whatever is playing one)

 

If anyone knows of anymore movies please post them. Thanks! (Remember, no tv shows just movies)

Videodrome is listed, for having the 800 computer and a 2600 joystick, but I clearly remember there being boxed 2600 games on top of the t.v. as well.

Thanks Maibock! Man I didn't realize that so many movies had Atari stuff in it. I even forgot a lot of those (like Airplane!). At least I got one they didn't have (Boy who could fly!). I feel special....just kidding!

I'm pretty sure that the remake of Solaris (the movie) used sound effects from Swordquest Earthworld (specifically, the room where all the waterfalls or whatever are coming down and you have to run through them) towards the end when the ship's breaking up. Maybe I'm just crazy though.

This site has a pretty comprehensive list of movies with arcade games in them. No 2600 listings though.

I don't recall what game they are playing, but Robin Maxwell and the Visitor Youth leader Brian are clearly playing an Atari 2600 at the beginning of the "V" miniseries.

I seem to remember a 2600 making an appearance in "Pirates of Silicon Valley." Steve Wozniak (?) was playing a game resembling Air-Sea Battle while hospitalized.

 

No 2600s here, but in the original "Dawn Of The Dead," there is a scene featuring many early arcade games (Starship 1, Gunslinger, Qwak, F-1, Night Driver, and some others). Also, there's the Computer Space game in "Soylent Green."

There is an Atari 2600 in Roll Bounce. The were playing Asteroids. The movie was to be set in the summer of 1978. Was Asteroids released at that time?

 

Either way they also made the mistake of having a skater do a B-Boying move called the Windmill. I don't know the year Ritchie "Crazy Legs" Colon invented this move but it didn't become mainsteam until the 80s.

The Top Secret! reference is only partially correct. While a Pac-Man reference at the train station map does exist, it's not in any way based on Atari's lame version.

Nope, not even the arcade version appeared until 1979. The Atari version was released in 1980.

Even though its not a movie, on the new tv show "Earl" Earls ex-wife's boyfriend is playing Berzerk on a 2600 and takes pictures of his high scores and places them on the wall of his trailer house.

I know in some TV Shows when a small child is playing a small hand held system you can clearly hear the sound from the Atari 2600 game Donkey Kong by Coleco

Regarding both TV & Film... and any home game system,

here's what I seen.

 

E.T. - Elliot's brother got 69,000 on Asteroids, but pulled the plug!

(I wonder what he'd get on the E.T. game Oo) oir what E.T.

would get on Asteroids. The system was a 4 switch woody I think.

 

The Wizard - Everyone in this movie was playin' NES and Arcade games.

Christian Slater was playing Ninja Turtles. ha!

Then Beau Bridges (the dad) was up all night on this game.

(He got the scroll weapon!)

 

Whatever - Stupid indie movie, and a boy plays Space Invaders on a 2600 woodgrain model. 4 switch.

 

Firestarter - Drew Barrymore locked away from starting supernatural fires.

She's given toys, including a Colecovision. You can see her

play it too.. no idea what the game is.

 

National Lampoon's Summer Vaction? - Yeah the two Grizwald kids play this Intellivison?

It wasn't a game but a map.. for their road trip.

Later son grizwald asks he's cousin a reeeal

Then, when its time for him to be locked

away to experiment on, he played like 8 video games at once.

And I never seen a movie called Joysticks,

which seems to be about 80s video games or arcade games.
