+Omegamatrix #1 Posted December 6, 2005 I spent a few hours today thoroughly cleaning a light sixer up. One thing I noticed is it's a lot heavier then a 4 switch, and has a plate inside covering the components. Are all the light sixers the same inside as a heavy sixer? I thought I read somewhere that they are the same, and that the term is a misconception.
Wester #2 Posted December 6, 2005 You might have one of those Frankenstien sonsoles that consist of a Light Sixer case with a Heavy Sixer board.
+Omegamatrix #3 Posted December 6, 2005 Could be true, especially since one screw was missing underneath. Does anyone know if a heavy sixer fits inside a light's shell?

The reason for the weight difference is the thickness of the case plastic - the bottom part of the heavy case is about 3 times as thick as the light one; it's almost the same thickness as the width of the side moldings throughout the entire casting. video game addict #5 Posted December 7, 2005 I imagine either could be just as deadly if dropped from near top the Empire State building. I think most if not all light sixers would/should have the channel select switches on board, where as with the original heavies, this was an addition later on. So Some heavies have them & some don't, but most all of the light sixers do. I would question whether the light sixer innards were original if I found one without a switch inside (possible repair job) but the shielding inside, huge hunk of metal seems to be in all of the sixers. Not light by any means when you're comparing to the 4 switch or JRs, but noticeably lighter than the original heavy sixer with it's thick plastic shell. I think you could drive a hummer over the base to the heavy sixer without harm.
+Omegamatrix #6 Posted December 7, 2005 Thanks for the helpful replies. It all makes sense now. I think you could drive a hummer over the base to the heavy sixer without harm. 977807[/snapback] They don't make them like they use to.
