Shawn #101 Posted December 11, 2005 I stroll into goodwill today, and spotted some NES titles most of which I allready had!! Except for Lunar Pool which I really wanted, so I see the toaster NES for 4.99 and I know carts cost 2.99 so I put the lunar pool inside the NES and proceed to check out I paid for the NES and the cart was free!! 978413 When you have to face Saint Peter I hope he cuts your balls off before thowing you in Hell. A2600 #103 Posted December 11, 2005 Did go today and offered my "olive branch of peace" I told them what happened and gave my donation They where glad I came through with telling them and that was the important part. So... Thank you all for understanding me and yes, you can rest assured I WILL NEVER STEAL FROM GOODWILL I think I really learned my lesson, oh boy I think that in the end this THREAD was really not needed to be posted by me I really dont know what I was trying t prove by posting this!! Thanks again
JimmydelaKopin #104 Posted December 11, 2005 You came through in the end. You redeemed yourself. You even made this crochety old gamer (34 come yesterday) lose a little of his cynicism. You did well, young man. You did well. So, as our prodigal son settles back into his digs here at AtariAge, let me help to end this thread with a joke: Who was most upset at the return of the prodigal son? The fatted calf. I know you're reading this. I can hear you groaning!

St. Peter probably won't commend you on a job well done.

Famicoman #107 Posted December 11, 2005 This thread goes perfectly with that one where the kid destroyed all of these non-working consoles, and then burried them.

shadow460 #110 Posted December 11, 2005 I'm glad to see you admitted to them what you did. Giving a donation or just secretly returning the game is a way to give back, but it doesn't address what happened, and it doesn't give you the chance to fully release your guilty feelings. I think that most people will be too stunned by total honesty over something like that to try and retaliate for it. At worst, they'll give you a nasty look, say some nasty things, and then tell you not to came back. Only a select few will actually go further and try to punish you for your actions. Let 'em find out on their own you stole it, though, and people aren't as forgiving. Most used game shops have better prices and better selection that Goodwill or any other thrift does, though. Why not just go to a game store instead?
ATARIeric #111 Posted December 11, 2005 (edited) Consider yourself lucky that you didnt get caught & wind up in the Sun Sentinel, Palm Beach Post or the Miami Herald. I would have scanned the article & posted it here on AA The funny thing about this thread is that Bryan hasnt edited the smiley face from the title. Im only busting balls Bry **Important** Bryan do not tell them you took it from the store because you dont know the history of that goodwill & crimes that might go on there! The last thing you need would be to have a possible confrontation with the law. Give a nice donation to clear your conscience & consider yourself lucky you wont have a trespassing warrant against you & employees there wont be pointing fingers at you every time you go thrifting! If you ever need a look out man PM me j/k Edited December 11, 2005 by ATARIeric

adams_ale #115 Posted December 12, 2005 We all deserve a little coal in our stockings for something we did at one point or another. I for one won't be making any confessions here, though if I did the response would look more like the neverending WWE thread(well, maybe not that bad). Anyway, very cool of you to make amends. rockman_x_2002 #116 Posted December 12, 2005 You did good, Bryan. I think you'll find you'll sleep much more peacefully tonight. And I think we've all had a good holiday lesson for us all here. A2600 #119 Posted December 12, 2005 It was a heck of a way to end it!! Though there are some days left... But wow my shocker would be that when the financial aid didnt go through and my car was stolen there after!
Mike OC #120 Posted December 12, 2005 But really trust me Im going to go back and give the cart back. offer and/or give a donation and most importantly apologize 979925 Was the cart itself marked with a price? If not, you didn't steal it. If it was already in the toaster it goes for the price of the toaster. Stuff at thrift stores is sold as-is. Your only mistake was posting the info in the first place. In essnence you are saying "If there's no price, its not stealing" Ok, what the hell is it then? Oh, and if you read the 1st post: I put the lunar pool inside the NES and proceed to check out I paid for the NES and the cart was free!! 978413 Notice that HE put the cart in the NES...soooo...it would be considered stealing, would it not? Oh, unless there was no price tag. In that case...the cart was free to anyone that wanted to pick it up...
Nintendo Penguin #122 Posted December 12, 2005 You know... I dont really have a problem with what he did. Listen to what I did... Just yesterday, I went to Mervyn's and got my mom some clothes and stuff for Christmas. I wanted the stuff gift wrapped, so I took it to the gift wrap department. The lady was really nice and wrapped all the stuff very nicely. One little problem though... I was never rung up for the items... only the gift wrap. I didn't even think about it until last night when I was taking the stuff out of the car. The differnce here is that I didn't do it on purpose... I felt kinda bad, but at the same time I am not about to spend time and money driving back to Albuquerque just to take care of what amounts to an employee's mistake. Does that make me just as bad as the first guy?
joeybastard #123 Posted December 12, 2005 Does that make me just as bad as the first guy? 981244 If you don't go back and make right? Yup.
n8littlefield #124 Posted December 12, 2005 No - I don't think that's bad, especially given the drive you would have had to make. Everyone accidentally gets some freebies in their days as a consumer, just last week I got some infant Tylenol free because I missed it shoved in the corner of my cart. I didn't bother going back. The only time I would bother is at the bank, because they are actually personally accountable when money is short in their till. If they give you too much $$, they actually could owe for it. My rule of thumb is if someone could potentially get in trouble for what I got, I go back. If it's a small item, and likely won't be an issue for the store, I don't bother. In that case...the cart was free to anyone that wanted to pick it up... 981221 My local thrift store has signs everywhere saying "No price tag, no sale." Of course, my thrift store also lacks any classic games. Maybe they're nabbed really fast, or maybe they just don't think they'll sell. An EBX guy told me that the oldest system they sell anymore is Dreamcast, and everything else gets sent to "less affluent" areas, because nobody would want to buy it in the DC area...whatever!
