Atarifever #2 Posted December 11, 2005 If they re-released it here I'd buy a new one, and I already own 2. Especially if they re-relaesed some of the harder to find games ad some stuff that wasn't released here before. I'd be more excited about that than the entire next generation of systems. Gdel #4 Posted December 11, 2005 i wish the reprint soul calibur, even though 2 more have came out, cause i still think the original is best, also id buy one cause there's some nice rpg's for dreamcast.
+uosipa llamxew #5 Posted December 11, 2005 My Dreamcast is the most modern console I own and I love it. I'm not sure I'd rush out to buy another Dreamcast (mine works just fine), but I'd definitely be happy to see more games coming out!
pmpddytim #6 Posted December 11, 2005 I would buy a new one if it came with the broadband adaptor! I would love to play some Dreamcast onnline again. -Tim
Mr.FoodMonster #7 Posted December 11, 2005 I have a very, VERY hard time believing that.
ATARIeric #8 Posted December 11, 2005 I have a very, VERY hard time believing that. 980572 You & me both, I guess we will find out in February
galaxy warrior #9 Posted December 11, 2005 what an odd move. i have 3 dreamcasts and would probably get another. but will it be as open to mod and hacks as the first gen or will it be crappy and disappointing as the latter releases
8th lutz #10 Posted December 11, 2005 (edited) If they release it in the states I might be after the rarest games. Edited December 12, 2005 by 8th lutz
Ze_ro #11 Posted December 11, 2005 This would certainly be a strange move.... although the Dreamcast has a much larger following in Japan than it does over here, so this wouldn't be so ridiculous. I wonder if Sega could make a profit off selling the Dreamcast as a super-cheap budget system... with the system being around $75 and games for $5 or something. --Zero
awsomo3000 #12 Posted December 11, 2005 Yeah i dont belive it either, but if it is true I'd get one if its cheap enough, Iv'e never played dreamcast before and I find it to be a very interesting system
sega saturn x #13 Posted December 11, 2005 If I could get some of the rare games, or even not so rare games new again man that would just make my day.
shadow460 #14 Posted December 11, 2005 That's one of the only two systems I'd buy on launch day for my own use. The other would be if old school (2600 era) Atari got back together and made a system. Atari Cougar, anyone?
SteveW #15 Posted December 11, 2005 The price they're listing is wrong. From what i've read, the price is supposed to be 15,800 yen ($133), according to Dreamcast Scene. I'm hoping that this new release might inspire Sammy/Sega to consider going back into the console market. Maybe they could make a niche console like the Neo-Geo. thund3r #16 Posted December 11, 2005 Funny thing is my DC is screwed yet again, so this may give me a chance to get a new one, with a few titles id like to own (mainly some of the rare beat em ups)
guitarmas #17 Posted December 11, 2005 Maybe they'll fix the problem when it comes to the system automatically restarting itself.
thund3r #18 Posted December 11, 2005 and i bet they still have a few warehouse's full of DC's they cant shift!
galaxy warrior #19 Posted December 12, 2005 and i bet they still have a few warehouse's full of DC's they cant shift! 980739 im sure they were still selling them not too long ago for 20 bux they took a few years vacation and try to slip them in as chic! neuvo! moycon #20 Posted December 12, 2005 I wouldn't need a system. I think I have like 3 or 4 of them, but games I would for sure be interested in. Unfortunately I doubt it'll happen.
SteveW #21 Posted December 12, 2005 It's chances of being brought to the United States are astronomically small. They're probably only going to bring them out in their home country, in limited numbers.

Curt Vendel #23 Posted December 12, 2005 I agree... I love my Dreamcast system, I have every little bell and whistle for it, its one of the only modern consoles that I enjoy as much as my classic consoles. So if Sega decides to bring it back, I'd certainly pick another one up for sure. Curt If they re-released it here I'd buy a new one, and I already own 2. Especially if they re-relaesed some of the harder to find games ad some stuff that wasn't released here before. Atarinvader #24 Posted December 12, 2005 There's a possibilty of easy ports of the Atomiswave games that never made it to DC. That would be really awesome, as would a budget machine for 'niche' games, as mentioned before. However, this isn't the first time that the DC has gone back in to production in Japan (a run was done six months or so after the machine was discontinued). The fanboy in me wants to believe that all this will happen, however I doubt it will beyond a few new Jap DCs.
Ze_ro #25 Posted December 13, 2005 I don't get why people keep saying "this won't happen" or "I doubt it"... Keep in mind that this is NOT a full-fledged commercial release that's going to be competing against the Xbox 360 for shelf space in EB or anything even remotely close to that. Basically it's just Sega selling off some systems through it's online store to diehard japanese fans. What's not to believe about that? After all, Nintendo was still selling Famicom's and NES's in 1993 in a similar manner. --Zero
