The almighty GCE Vectrex.

 

Which rests 3 feet from me right now. And it still works, despite childhood abuse which icluded shoving it off a table(Though who knows what happened to the brightness knob).

I think it was the Intellivision 2. Hated those controllers. Almost made me not play another console game because of them hurting my hand.

My first console was an Atari 2600. I was given it in 1981. I think it was November.

 

I remember being disappointed at first. I had been longingly gazing at the Odyssey 2 and Quest for the Rings. Then I sheepishly realized that the Atari 2600 had the game of Missile Command, which was my favorite game and which my mom had bought with my console. She knew the name of my favorite game. No matter what else, she got incredible cool points with me for that.

 

Ah, my mom would occasionally have her cool moments before she let her dope habit overwhelm her.

My first console was an Atari VCS 6-switch. But if you really want to get technical, my true first videogame playing 'console' was a Coleco Telstar Pong machine. The one that took two 9volt batteries, one to play the unit, and the second to play the audio. I've still got it around here somewhere.

I had a two player only Pong-like thing in the late 1970s, but the first real console was the Atari 2600 I got in 1982.

Atari 2600 - it came with Pong and I was given Space Invaders at the same time (I think)

An Atari 400, I got it for Christmas 1983. I still have it actually, although it's not in the best shape anymore.

 

From there is was an Apple IIe in 1986 and then a hand me down Atari 2600 in 1987 and a NES in 1988.

Some dedicated generic pong thing in the late '70's. We got the 2600 in 1980.

I never owned a console until I bought a GameCube a few years ago. Computers, on the other hand, we had plenty of. My first gaming system was an Apple II Plus.

A hand-me-down 2600 when my brother got his NES. I defintely got the better part of that deal (sorry Shep).

The 2600, woodgrain model, for Christmas one year and I think 3 games (Missile Command, Asteroids, and Space Invaders). My parents got it for me in the early 80's, and I was a very happy camper. That is, until I went to my rich friend's house, and he had ALL the systems. I fell in love with the O2 at that point, and got introduced to the Vectrex system. Colecovision became popular in his house, and I loved that, too.
