[d2f]Iggy*SJB #1 Posted December 20, 2005 Ok....you guys seem to know your stuff about the rarity of carts, and I happen to have an "Adventure" cart that I looked high and low around here for some information on....I'm coming up empty. I'll grab a picture of it, and edit it to this post, but for the moment, the label reads: 3 Tele-Games 3 skill levels for 1 player Program contents c 1980 Atari, inc. Use with Joystick Controllers sears, roebuch and co. 49_75154 That's the "main" label. The # in the lower right corner actually has the 49 with the underscore below the 49(which is about half the size of the rest)...but that's the best I could do to represent it. The end label simply reads: "ADVENTURE" It's been so long since I got this thing, that I'm not sure if I got it new with a box, or as part of a package deal at a HamFest. I'll have to go looking through my closet with all those boxes to find out. Any info on this would be appreciated. Like I said, I'll take a pic of it and add it to this post. [d2f]Iggy*SJB #3 Posted December 20, 2005 Well, I'll be damned. How did you find......nevermind...... That's the one alright. Any idea what it's worth?

[d2f]Iggy*SJB #5 Posted December 20, 2005 Damn. Ah well. At least it's listed on the rarity chart as a 3......that's better than some of the ones I've got. Although, I haven't checked many of them either.......

Everyone slammed Combat for its poor graphics even back in the day, but looking back everyone remembers it as one of the best games. Asteroids, Yars' Revenge, Pitfall!, Frogger, and Circus Atari are also easy to find. It doesn't have to be rare to be valuable (and by valuable I mean fun), but it's a bonus if it is. I remember when I won a H.E.R.O. cart off of eBay. I thought it was the best thing in the world. like CPUWIZ says "rare is not rare", but I think he might have been talking about Motorodeo & Ikari Warriors... Mindfield #7 Posted December 20, 2005 Most of the greatest games are also some of the most common. After all, they're common because they're popular -- lots of people bought them. Similarly, some of the rarest games are also not very much fun to play -- or at least not much beyond average. Me, I love Adventure. Simple and fun. Don't worry, there's plenty of time for rarity hunting. Now's the time to just enjoy the games. Your wallet will thank you for it. Mine, well ... we haven't been on speaking terms in quite some time. Go play Asteroids and have a blast. Then play Waterworld or River Patrol and say I spent my money on what?? There are of course notable exceptions like Subterranea and Track & Field. Some rare games are fun, but a lot are not a bundle of joy.

I have to make little cooing noises and promise it won't hurt before I can spend anything. Subterranea and T&F are certainly fun -- the latter is much better with the T&F controller though. Waterworld I don't have yet but can see myself getting eventually. River Patrol would put my wallet in a coma. A CIB Malagai would be instantaneous cardiac arrest. shadow460 #11 Posted December 23, 2005 IMO, the rarest fun 2600 games are Subterranea and Ram It. Ram It goes for $25 generally, and it is worth every single penny of that. I just paid $100 for another R7 game (it's not a 2600 game) that's a little less fun, IMO than Ram It. If you want something rare with more depth, look for Sword of Saros or Survival Island. Fair warning, those two games are tough to beat. Plus, you'll need a multicart or a Supercharger to play them. Most of my rarest 2600 titles are label variations of some early staples like Night Driver and Missile Command. In fact, the rarest 2600 game I won is the Sears pic of Night Driver. I hardly ever play it.
