The time has come to admit that I am a closet bowler. There - I'm out (what a weight off!)

Mind you, I haven't actually thrown a bowl since 1980 - that is when my feet grew to size 14EEE and I could not fit into those lovely rental bowling shoes. Now, at 16EEEEE, it is difficult to even find a specialty place to make a shoe (or two) even if I wanted to buy them. But I digress...

From the moment I picked up the Atari 2600 Bowling, I was hooked (as it were). Soon, 300 games were the norm. While I could never best my father in real bowling, I went undefeated hurling a large, square ball into ten smaller squares. The graphics sucked, but the two-player rivarly was great. My kid and I play this game all the time and still have lots of fun.

I have played some pretty bad bowling games in my time, but I am wondering what is the best bowling game out there? I think that Championship Bowling on the Genesis is pretty damn good, but I am hoping there is something better out there - classic or new -

Anyone?

2600 Bowling is indeed an excellent game

Inty bowling - Some say it's pretty good, but for me, it gives me nightmares - The bowler has the same freakish tendencies as the king in the BK commercials.. Yeah it's that freaky..

VCS bowling is fun. As a kid that was one of those games that were part of the Saturday tournaments in my friend's basement.

I have some kind of bowling for the SNES. Tried it once, it was not intuitive how to control anything so it went on the shelf and I have never bothered to look at it again.

I want someone to make a bowling for the CV or the 5200 that uses the trakball for the controller. While they are it make a golf game using the trakball too. So let it be written, so let it be done. So speaks Joey the Bastard :D

Bowling on the 2600 is probably my favourite. The other one I played a lot in the 80s was 10th Frame on the C-64, made by the same guys who did Leaderboard and Beach-Head (also excellent games).

And just yesterday I was playing the bowling minigame in Super Monkey Ball 2 on the GC - pretty fun IMO.

I have Super Monkey Ball for the GBA and it has a good bowling in it too. I forgot about that.

If you are including everything, the most fun bowling game I have played so far is World Class Bowling (1995 Incredible Technologies) using MAME.

Shuffleshot by the same company isn't bad either.

I have to say the Monkey Ball bowling is really fun as well. I've played it on the GBA, Cube, and PS2 and all 3 are great. They even have wacky lanes on the console versions that are a great change of pace.

If you have a PS2 - Super Monkey Ball Deluxe is $20 and has all the levels and mini games from SMB1 and 2 in one package and is an insanely good value.

There's some kind of package for the GC too. I saw it in EB but didn't investigate since I had both already.

Bowling for the 2600 is definitely in my top 10 of favorite Atari games.

The absolute best bowling game I have played is probably Capcom Bowling in the arcades.

I love bowling for the 2600 too. There's a good hack for it out there called Cosmic Bowling by Neotokeo2001.

I recently picked up Strike Force Bowling for the X-Box, and that is far and away the best bowling game I have ever played. 2600 Bowling is, believe it or not, my second favorite.

League Bowling on the Neo Geo is good. It's pretty simple and it has alot of cute animations.

I just bought a XavixPort game console with the Bowling game a few days ago, and I love it. It looks a lot like a 16-bit console game, but having the bowling ball peripheral that comes with the game makes it so much better than other bowling games. And the game variations are fun, too, like the shooting gallery type game. Check out the company's website for yourself.

The Arcadia 2001 has 3-D Bowling...sort of like Intelly Bowling. The only bad part of the 2001 game is the white background, and RED pins!!...other than that, it's a pretty good bowling game IMO.

Ive only ever played two console bowling games, atari 2600 bowling, and "Milos Bowling Lanes" for the nintendo 64, I used to have this game, but I sold it to EB ganes for dirt cheap. Anyway, it's kind of an arcade style bowling game, not realistic, with like ramps and obsticles in the lanes, and you can make you balls real big or split it into three balls. Its pretty fun, but if you want a realistic bowling game its not realy for you...

Bowling for the Atari 2600. Simple but fun.

Didn't try INTV's Bowling until the age of emulation. Not a bad visual presentation, given the graphic capabilities, but trying to get that ball to roll is a real pain.

Now, at 16EEEEE, it is difficult to even find a specialty place to make a shoe (or two) even if I wanted to buy them. But I digress...

Get 'Ten Pin Alley' for the Sega Saturn. It's one of my favorite games of all time. Very relaxing, laid back game. The Saturn version was tweaked to correct problems in the PS version and has been jam packed with hidden extras: a Vectrex mode, Babylon 5 mode, Cosmic Bowling mode, hidden characters, even the entire Bible is hidden on the disc.

I love 2600 Bowling and will not apologize for it. It's one of my most played 2600 games! (Because I suck at real bowling!)
