Alex #1 Posted May 18, 2002 Does anyone know which games were released by Hot Shot versus Goliath? We were just updating/adding to the database (we don't even have a Hot Shot entry yet) and it's difficult to tell which titles came from Hot Shot. We'll be adding some titles to our Goliath listing, and I have quite a few pics of carts that I think may be Hot Shot, but I'm not sure.
ren.dhark #2 Posted May 18, 2002 I think the games were first released under the Goliath label and later under the Hot Shots label. Here are two pictures from german ebay auctions: Goliath Hot Shots
Alex #3 Posted May 18, 2002 Ah yes, I remember those boxes now. So the question is, which are goliath and which are Hot Shot (unless anyone has a complete boxed collection)? Some of the Goliath carts are easily identifiable because they say Goliath, but what about the others? Do all the generic labels belong to Hot Shot? CincYnoTi #4 Posted May 19, 2002 go look at game reset. they have pictures for most of both the goliath and hot shot games. marco k has boxed versions of most of the hot shot titles i believe. i asked him the same question once upon a time. all the "text only" labels like the one on ebay auction above with a large number 1-8 are goliath releases with corresponding goliath boxes. the hot shot releases came in a generic hot shot box. the back of the box says something like "manufactured by Goliath" in small print on the back. i believe there are 24 hot shot titles (counting sea monster and sea master as the same game). they all have the same label style, colorful picture, game title in big font on main and end label. packong, galactic and time race have lots of label variations. go look at photos.yahoo.com/tonyricepics and look in my atari folder at the galpactime composite photo. it shows five different labels for those three games. the last column is the hot shot version. i should update the quelle column with a picture of "Gefecht Im All" since that is the equivalent Time Race from quelle. when i made that picture, i just stuck the rainbowvision "the year 1999" game in there because it had the same label pic as the hotshot galactic label. Alex #5 Posted May 19, 2002 I've seen Game Reset, but it doesn't clearly state which games are Goliath and which are Hot Shot. Maybe Jens can clear it up for me. I'm just not sure about some of the carts that don't say Goliath on them. For example, what are the carts that look like Hot Shot, but have "Multi Video Systems" across them? It's like a Hot Shot cart with a Goliath diagonal band, but not the Goliath name. And what type of box did the picture label carts with the diagonal band that says "Goliath Video System" come in? MattyXB #6 Posted May 19, 2002 I am not sure too. Maybe its the same company? On Game Reset they are listed together. So its maybe the same company, that only the Box calls Hot Shot, and the lable Goliath (or some lables). But I am not sure about this too. I have some Pet Boat Games. First I have think its the company Pet Boat, but I have one with box, and on the Box stand Fantastic Game. And I have sometimes see Lables where Fantastic Game stand on the Lable too. So they release games with Fantastic Game Lables and with Pet Boat Lables. But I think these are the same pirated company.
Alex #7 Posted May 19, 2002 Yes, they may have come from the same company originally, I'm more curious about the packaging/box. I've seen the Hot Shot boxes, and it seems like they should be separate entries. I've seen carts with Goliath labels - did they come in Goliath boxes? I don't recall seeing a Goliath box. I also saw Marco's post about the UK list, that those Goliath games are actually Hot Shot. So I'm still confused. I saw your Pet Boat carts - freaky! We have a few other "Fantastic Game" carts to add - I've seen that on the box and cart as well. We are leaning towards using an "Unknown" category, and indicating "Fantastic Game" in the label column to distinguish them. So maybe the Pet Boat carts should go in there too, since they are probably the same source given the box.

Don't know that one, sorry, but for all I know Golath could have stuck them in the generic Hot Shot box as well. That's just a guess though. There are indeed 24 Hot Shot titles, and 4 demo carts, and at least one Super Six cart. Oh, and I have a complete, boxed Hot Shot collection Cheers, Marco

Can you scan them, or have you pictures from them?
Marco(2) #10 Posted May 19, 2002 I think the Hot Shot Demo carts were first meant to be used in stores but later on, Goliath/Hot Shot decided that they were cool to sell to the public too (as the "Super-six"). I have seen a brochure that lists four of these demo carts, each of them containing 1/4 of the 24 available Hot Shot games. Here's a picture of a German version: The cart has six LEDs to indicate the game in play. Noteworthy feature is that you do not have to switch off the VCS to select games. This is the first multicart I know off that does that (without frying). The cart needs power of its own, so you connect the VCS power supply to the cart and loop it through to the VCS. MattyXB #11 Posted May 19, 2002 Wow look great. Must be very Rare. Never see it in auctions. PS: No wink in this reply.

Somehow I think that you only need to route the power cable through the cartridge so that you can turn off/on the VCS by pushing the button on the cartridge. The cart probably doesn't use any power from the power supply directly. The blue button just interrupts the power input for the console, and the cartridge switches to the next game when the power comes back, just like Atari's 32-in-1 game does too.
