Nintendo Penguin #1 Posted January 4, 2006 I am going away for a few days next week cause I need to get the fuck away from my family! They are driving me nuts! I am going to drive from Santa Fe, NM to Youngstown, OH. The long drive will give me some "me" time. I am going to Youngstown cause I have friends there. Maybe I will stop in Indianapolis and checkout the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.... I have always wanted to see that. Can anyone recommend anything else to do or see on the way? maibock #2 Posted January 4, 2006 Ah yes, the road trip to clear your head drive. Mine was from Columbia, SC to Los Angeles and then from LA up the coast to San Jose in a renta car. One of the best trips ever.. no time table.. some cash and the open road.. good luck man! Take a reliable car.. scribble down observations and thoughts along the way, no matter how trivial they seem..
SteveW #3 Posted January 4, 2006 I drive down to my sister's house when I want to get away. The best thing I can reccomend, is Google Maps. For my trip in a week and a half, i've used Google Maps to plot out all the flea markets for the drive down on Sunday, and all the points of interest over there and on the drive back. I've located good restaurants, thrift stores to check for old games, and even places with free internet access on my route, so I can websurf on my laptop. Google Maps totally rocks. Famicoman #4 Posted January 4, 2006 How is this in Classic Gaming.
SteveW #5 Posted January 4, 2006 I think what he meant to get across was that he's going to be travelling, so are there any places to buy old games along the way. At least that's what i'm assuming, with it being in the Classic Gaming forum.
Nintendo Penguin #6 Posted January 8, 2006 I totally screwed-up putting this in the classic gaming thread... I don't know what I was thinking! Sorry all... I don;t usually make mistakes like this... but yeah... if anyone knows a good place to buy some classic games between new mexico and ohio drop me a line. Too bad I don't have more time... I would go to Jersey and check out that new DP store.
SteveW #7 Posted January 8, 2006 Well, if you pass through Oklahoma City and Tulsa, there's some good stores in town called Vintage Stock that have all sorts of classic games in them. I've heard good things about those stores.
Nintendo Penguin #8 Posted January 9, 2006 Sweet! I will be passing thru OK City and Tulsa.... I will probably need a break when I get to OK City anyway so that works out perfect!
SteveW #9 Posted January 10, 2006 There's plenty of Okies around here, hopefully you can get a few pointers from 'em before you go. Plus, if you drive through the St. Louis area, you can stop by Trade-N-Games, owned by one of the posters here on Atari Age, who cleverly goes by the screen name Trade-N-Games. And go take that California trip - Get your kicks on Route 66 Edited January 10, 2006 by silverpoodleman
+-^CrossBow^- #11 Posted January 10, 2006 (edited) Actually...Vintage Stocks...Only exist in Tulsa in the OK area. There are also Vintage Stocks in Kansas City KS, Rogers and Springdale AR, and in Joplin and Springfield MO. Tulsa has 4 stores now in the area to look for stuff. However, both Tulsa and OKC have GameXchange stores which deal strictly with new and used video games. They do carry Atari to Xbox 360. But their selections aren't always nearly as good. And for the GameXchanges here in Tulsa. All Atari games are a flat 2.95 each...be it Combat or Quadrun. Vintage Stocks on the other hand will have very different prices from store to store. But they do use the VGC magazine as their idea for pricing their stuff. So you aren't likely to score any ultra rares at any of these stores. In fact, Vintage Stocks alone have at least one if now two employees who collect as we do. And they all phone each other from store to store and hold stuff back for first pickings for employees. Which means...they aren't the best source for anything rare around here. Still, if your looking for commons or other games for other systems. And as was stated if your going to travel through St. Louis you really should give Jason a visit at Trade-N-Games. Lots of stuff to choose from there as well. Just make sure to tell him that OVGE attendees sent ya! hehe Edited January 10, 2006 by -^Cro§Bow^-
