Artlover #1 Posted January 8, 2006 So I was thinking of some various games I'd like to play. Tractor Monster Truck Lumberjack Strongman There was Monster Truck Madness 64 for the N64. Thats all I can come up with. Nothing like it on a modern console I dont think, and none of those other, erm, 'sports', for lack of a better word, either. No sled pulls, no axe throwin, no huge sweds throwing grand piano's full of molten lead up through a 3rd story window. Do they exist?
Starscream #2 Posted January 9, 2006 I would like a hide n seek game. Nice online multiplayer, tons of maps. Or miniture golf. Both would be awesome for the Live Arcade.
sega saturn x #3 Posted January 9, 2006 A monster truck game actually just came out on the DS. I would like to know where the convention game is? A game where you have to run your own con like a comi con or a sci fi con. You would need to deal with all the services plus kick out all of the 40 year old otaku who are trying to hit on 14 year old girls.
SteveW #4 Posted January 9, 2006 In Japan there's loads of special interest games, but unfortunately the western countries don't do quite the same thing. Japanese gamers get games about driving tour buses around Tokyo, or running beef bowl restaurants, or college dorm roommate simulations. We don't get those kinds of things here, based on our oddball interests.
Mindfield #5 Posted January 9, 2006 Heh... the Japanese have some very "special" interest games. *ahem* oonga boonga *ahem* I've seen a strongman competition-type game on the PC -- it was a budget title I believe, released about 2-3 years ago. I can't quite recall the title (it was of little enough interest to me to fall off the radar pretty quickly). There are a number of monster truck games, of course, most memorably Microsoft's Monster Truck Madness. I don't think I've ever seen a lumberjack game -- unless you count Nintendo's "Timber!" arcade game. Tractors... about the closest I've seen are the Tonka games for kiids. Clock #6 Posted January 9, 2006 Closest to lumberjack game I can think of is a very cool classic from the early 80s called 'PEDRO' But its more of a gardenening game. There are a few driving games where you hit trees and they dissapear.... not really the same thing. Hmmm maybe we should move onto the next level and discuss a beaver game where you do lumberjacking and build dams... I think the Japanease have some beaver games... not sure how they play. Artlover #7 Posted January 9, 2006 Yeah, I've noticed the Japanese have lots of kool odd-ball games that I'd probably like. Unfortunatly, they are all in Japan. Places like Lik' Sang and other importers don't carry them all. Plus they are all in Japanese anyways, so I wouldn't understand them for beans. I know the market would be small here, but there would still be a market none the less. I don't think language translation is any signifigant issue to the why not. Probably just financial bottom line. Anywho, I could go for a tokyo tour bus game.
DeV0 #8 Posted January 9, 2006 Well you can get "Tokyo bus" on the Dreamcast, pretty much a bus driving safety sim around some Japanese city, Its kinda fun though and played it a bit. Theres also a train sim on the Saturn called "Densha De Gogo Ex", Im really bad at this but It's funny missing the stations and slamming the breaks on just to watch the passengers go flying. Im not sure about the four topics you mentioned, but i'll look into it
n8littlefield #9 Posted January 9, 2006 Well, there was a World's Strongest Man game on the PC. I just gave my copy away or I'd send it to you. It was pretty much a button masher like old Track & Field type games. There's a new monster truck racer on the DS too - although it's a budget title as well, so it would be a buyer beware a suppose. There are plenty of games in niche categories. I consider horse racing to be one of those categories, and I think of Romance of the Seven Kingdoms to be in that type of small interest area as well. I'm pretty sure I've seen bull riding/rodeo PC games which would be limited interest as well I suppose.
maibock #10 Posted January 9, 2006 There was a PC game, a year or two ago, where you were a subway train operator. It was freeware and community driven. There were tracks all over the world with different types of trains. The view was first person, so all you basically saw were the controls and the outside of the window. It was pretty neatly done. The objectives were simply getting to the station on time and dropping of passengers and picking them up.. had a nice little charm to it.. I'll try to find it and post a link.. Flojomojo #11 Posted January 9, 2006 (edited) So I was thinking of some various games I'd like to play. Lumberjack Strongman 996375[/snapback] Here you are, my redneck friend. Timber is your lumberjack game (kind of a non-alcoholic "Tapper") and perhaps Arm Wrestling would do for a Strongman game. I never wanted to do this job in the first place!I... I wanted to be... A LUMBERJACK! (piano vamp) Leaping from tree to tree! As they float down the mighty rivers of British Columbia! With my best girl by my side! The Larch! The Pine! The Giant Redwood tree! The Sequoia! The Little Whopping Rule Tree! We'd sing! Sing! Sing! Oh, I'm a lumberjack, and I'm okay, I sleep all night and I work all day. CHORUS: He's a lumberjack, and he's okay, He sleeps all night and he works all day. I cut down trees, I eat my lunch, I go to the lava-try. On Wednesdays I go shoppin' And have buttered scones for tea. Mounties: He cuts down trees, he eats his lunch, He goes to the lava-try. On Wednesdays 'e goes shoppin' And has buttered scones for tea. CHORUS I cut down trees, I skip and jump, I like to press wild flowers. I put on women's clothing, And hang around in bars. Mounties: He cuts down trees, he skips and jumps, He likes to press wild flowers. He puts on women's clothing And hangs around.... In bars??????? CHORUS I chop down trees, I wear high heels, Suspendies and a bra. I wish I'd been a girlie Just like my dear papa. Mounties: He cuts down trees, he wears high heels Suspendies?? and a .... a Bra???? (spoken, raggedly) What's this? Wants to be a *girlie*? Oh, My! And I thought you were so rugged! Poofter! CHORUS All: He's a lumberjack, and he's okaaaaaaayyy.....
