godzillajoe #1 Posted January 10, 2006 Hi, This may have been done before but I haven't really been reading the forums. I'm planning on having an "Atari Party" at my place A bunch of friends hanging out, boozing it up and playing some games. What games are a must? Simultaneous two player games are preferred so that everyone else doesn't just have to sit around I was thinking Joust, Combat, Hat Trick (7800), Ms. Pac Man, Mario Bros. What am I missing? What about homebrews?
AtariAger #2 Posted January 10, 2006 Yes...Homebrews are a must!
Galaga_Freak #3 Posted January 10, 2006 Warlords, simultaneous 4 player action
Room 34 #4 Posted January 10, 2006 I'll second Warlords. You also need to have Indy 500!
MacbthPSW #5 Posted January 10, 2006 Yup, Warlords. I've also had some success with Armor Ambush, Ice Hockey, Frogs & Flies and Jedi Arena.

yuppicide #8 Posted January 10, 2006 I'd reccommend one adult title for laughs.
keilbaca #9 Posted January 10, 2006 I'd reccommend one adult title for laughs. 997306 I emphasize this. New years eve comes to mind. Hilarity ensued.

silverpoodleman #11 Posted January 10, 2006 (edited) Ditto on Warlords and INDY 500. Dodge 'em, Bowling, and Tennis are good as well. Edited January 10, 2006 by silverpoodleman
Atari Rescue Group #12 Posted January 10, 2006 Video Olympics (aka Sears "Pong Sports") has four player games as well.
supercat #13 Posted January 10, 2006 I'd reccommend one adult title for laughs. 997306 Which one? Some of the 'adult' titles for the 2600 suggest that--properly programmed--the system might be able to do something arousing. The only problem is that they're all deadly dull except Cathouse Blues that seems too impossibly hard.

supercat #15 Posted January 10, 2006 I played x-man for my new years eve crowd. 997399 X-man graphics are okay, but the game isn't any fun. Cathouse Blues actually has something of a game, except that the mugger is just too nasty.
D.Yancey #16 Posted January 10, 2006 You can play 4 players on Decathlon. Demon Attack has some 2 player co-operative variations that can make for some hilarity. One guy shoots for 4 seconds while the other controls the ship. Then the controls reverse for 4 seconds. After a few drinks, this could make for a great partners tournament! Freeway has all 8 variations with 2 player simultaneous action and the games only last about 2 minutes each.
The_Laird #17 Posted January 10, 2006 All 3 of the Epyx titles; Winter Games, Summer Games and especially California Games. Up to 8 of you can compete against each other on these games. Essential for multi-player parties!

Essential for multi-player parties! 997434 Warlords, Joust... I remember basketball was fun. Oh yeh! Space War!! The Atari 400/800 has similatanious Asteriods with 4 players. I remember that was nice and fun. Is there a two player Breakout?
DaveD #19 Posted January 10, 2006 Warlords, definitely. A bunch of friends hanging out, boozing it up and playing some games. Well after the booze has been flowing a bit, games like Freeway and Stampede develop subtle complexities that sobriety can easily mask. Trust me. silverpoodleman #20 Posted January 10, 2006 Video Olympics (aka Sears "Pong Sports") has four player games as well. 997366 Yes - Pong is excellent. Remember, Pong was so successful because of three factors - it is incredibly easy to learn, hard to master, AND, most importantly, women are naturally better at it than men (due to better fine motor skills and hand-eye). Not knowing this, guys would pump quarter after quarter trying to improve just so they could beat their gals. What silly lengths we go to in order to get, um, favors. +SpiceWare #21 Posted January 10, 2006 4 player Breakout Warlords 2 player Combat Dragster Indy 500 (don't forget the ice tracks!) Maze Craze Outlaw (also check the homebrew Gunfight) Space Invaders (games 33 and up are 2 players at same time) Space War
128bytes #22 Posted January 10, 2006 Sky Diver hasn't been mentioned yet - fun, quick 2 player action, and people like the waving legs of the splatted people...
Red 5 #24 Posted January 10, 2006 SpiceWare mentioned Maze Craze, and I second that. Especially the variation where you can put up fake dead-ends. One of my all time favorite two player games.
+Omegamatrix #25 Posted January 10, 2006 Play Tapper. Everytime the guy misses a pint everyone has to take a drink. It'll get real hard real soon.
