NE146 #29 Posted January 12, 2006 I however love pinball and when the price of Pokemon pinball dropped to $2 used I decided to get it. Baaaad move. Man that game was great and I never thought I'd say it but it really is an awesome pinball game. So awesome I got the second/Ruby Sapphire one. I wasn't as impressed w/ the second as I was the first but still I got sucked in... Which Pokemon Pinball are you talking about? Because I agree.. the original Gameboy Pokemon Pinball still stands up today as one of my all time favorite Gameboy games I really like the depth in it and it still holds up to this day. I can play that for a long time.. here in 2006 with my DS and my PSP off to the side

hex65000 #31 Posted January 13, 2006 I have to agree that the stadium series is probably the most annoying series to date. I haven't played Coloseum yet, and got about halfway through xD before I wanted to work my group up a bit more in the coloseums and the tower. My loadout from my last play was Ursaring and Zangoose; lots of damage through normal moves, Lunatone and Numel; one bowls em down with ground while the other whacks em' with rock, Spheal and Umbreon; ties up the other loos ends. For sanity, I'll not go in depth on how I'm fareing in Emerald, but I pretty much finished green (which finally is a different story after you beat the elite 4 the first time) and am trying to collect as many critters into green as possible. I'm about 2/3 through my first pass on red, and I'll hopefully restart my failed and (boring) attempt at Sapphire one day. Oh yeah I'm hooked bad. On a lighter note... http://data2.polymercitychronicles.com/archive/20000724.gif http://data2.polymercitychronicles.com/archive/20010122.gif http://data2.polymercitychronicles.com/archive/20010129.gif http://data2.polymercitychronicles.com/archive/20010330.gif http://www.polymercitychronicles.com/fanart/pokemob.gif PCC is quite rockem-sockem.... Hex. [ For my next trick, I'll require a young priest, Magical Trevor, and of course a Badger. ]
Clint Thompson #32 Posted January 14, 2006 Off topic a bit but while searching for a birthday gift my daughter spotted a Pokemon (she's only 3 , so no chance it was by seeking) and he shook violently and screamed Pika.. or something.... I laughed so hard... because it was hilarious. Well.... it wasn't enough to warrant a purchase... but I did get a laugh from it.
TuzenTCA #33 Posted January 14, 2006 I hate Japanimation. Ugly characters, ugly shapes, crappy voices. It's been the same crap since I was a kid back in the 1970s. I never understood, even as a kid, how anyone could watch stuff that looks so bad. It's so ugly. Not just ugly, it's fugly. I refuse to play games that look that way too, so I'll never get hooked. 997477 . . . cutesy-anime Japanese thing. 997647 Yeah, and although the stuff is supposed to look cute, it ends up looking the opposite to me. Certain types of puppies are cute. The same with many kittens, but the stuff they come up with that is supposed to be cute looks ugly and offends my senses and make me think that millions of people have had the cute recognition software in their brains removed. 997688 Random is the most realistic AA'er ever. I can't find something I disagree with him on. Keep up the great work. --James
Foxy Cleopatra #34 Posted January 14, 2006 I believe South Park had it right, Pokemon is made to be addicting. I had to be pulled away from Pokemon Snap on the 64 by my mother. And I was actually late to work once due to the cartoon. FU Pikachu
liveinabin #35 Posted January 14, 2006 Any good game is addictive because you're having fun playing it. And, by and large, the Pokemon games are some of the finest around.
Avid Fan #36 Posted January 14, 2006 I'm not completely biased against cutesy-anime type things. I mean I pay a Gamecube mostly so I can put up with a degree of cutesy, but anime-style usually turns me away. I thought it was cool in Kill Bill and I cant remember what else, oh yeah, I liked Voltron when I was 4, but it usually turns me away (and Picachu kicks my ass in SSBM)

Cheese007 #38 Posted January 17, 2006 my first game system was an atomic purple gameboy color with a copy of pokemon pinball. why do i all of a sudden feel the urge to go and replace the pokemon yellow and blue i lost years ago? (btw i also lost said gameboy color but i recently replaced it with one of the same color and with that i completed my gameboy collection (for us systems(to complete the entire thing i need a gameboy light (use wikipedia))))
shadow460 #39 Posted January 17, 2006 So this Pokemon Pinball, isn't that the all black rumble cart I've been seeing around? I might get sucked into Pokemon myself. I just grabbed Pokemon Stadium one and two, and I got Hey you, Pikachu! with the VRU and mike. I'm kinda curious about the whole thing, and kind of glad that it was "in" almost five years ago. I wonder what is going to be the result of getting five Pokemon carts for my gameboy just to complete my selection of Transfer Pak compatible titles? I guess I get to go from the macho title first (Perfect Dark) to the Mario titles, Mickey, and finally the cutesy Pokemon ones. Part of what' getting me hooked is that my Gameboy Color has a Pokemon screen on it, and it's kinda cute looking. I guess it's better than looking at the all black border on my Game Gear screen. NE146 #40 Posted January 17, 2006 So this Pokemon Pinball, isn't that the all black rumble cart I've been seeing around? Why yes The original is the one you want. The one for the GBA was kind of a dissapointment. I mean it was good.. just not as fun to play in my humble opinion.

I can't say exactly why, maybe that they just tried too hard on Ruby/Sapphire? They used the engine from Kirby's Pinball (I think) and just totally transformed and converted it. It's a lot of fun and if you open and clear the list of pokemon collected (if it's used) and there are a buttload of pokemon to catch - 150 and don't forget their evolutions! When you first start you choose a red or blue machine/board. When you get playing you get a random roulette of the location you start at and different pokemon are at each place. There are challenges and bonus stages too, all dependant on your pinball skills. And at 1.99 used it was totally the right price and a pinball game that will keep you very busy for a while. Also, even if you don't like pokemon, you don't have to know a lot about each charecter, and there are no numbers and stats ( I can't stand that crap myself) to keep track of. If you are interested it keeps a list of the ones you do and don't have unlocked, and it tells a few bits of info about each one that you 'catch'. We have 3 of the original Pokemon Pinball games - one for each of us and one for the kid we babysit (who now discovered the dark depths of Katamari(y?) which is totally perfect since its basic skills). Hope I covered most of the game but even though I can't stand RPG's I love pinball and it satisfies that soo very well. Hmm... I haven't played for a while and I still have to unlock... *dam dam dam* ... I'll be back later.

It's probably because of the oversaturation we saw a few years ago -- maybe I could have gotten into it if it were a cult fringe thing or something. . I really thought the fad was over, but it seems the games are still selling well. I guess I'm glad because this will keep Nintendo alive.
