GameSpot reported the US Top 10 Best Selling Videogames in 2005, EA's Madden NFL 06 is the best selling title with over 2.9 million copies sold.

1. Madden NFL 06 (PS2, EA) - 2.9 million units

2. Pokemon Emerald (GBA, Nintendo) - 1.7 million units

3. Gran Turismo 4 (PS2, SCEA) - 1.5 million units

4. Madden NFL 06 (Xbox, EA) - 1.2 million units

5. NCAA Football 06 (PS2, EA) - 1.1 million units

6. Star Wars: BattleFront II (PS2, LucasArts) - 1 million units

7. MVP Baseball 2005 (PS2, EA) - 970,000 units

8. Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (PS2, LucasArts) - 930,000 units

9. NBA Live 06 (PS2, EA) - 820,000 units

10. LEGO Star Wars (PS2, Eidos) - 800,000 units

I guess if it's not Sports or Star Wars it won't sell in the U.S.

At least there is one Role Playing game (Pokemon Emerald). But haven't I played that one before??

This is why Developers don't want to take chances making an original game anymore.

Seems odd that Halo 2 wasn't in there..... something smells fishy about this.

I think Star Wars games sold so well in 2005 because of Revenge of the Sith being in theatres. Sports games have been among the top selling games in the US for years. No shocker there IMO.
