jerrykurtz #1 Posted January 18, 2006 Here's another example of sellers trying to get away with anything. "Still in box not played" For a system that has never been used, it sure is missing a lot of stuff, and the last time I checked, Atari didn't wrap cords around the system like that... Is it just me, or is everyone getting frustrated with people that do stuff like this? I went ahead and sent the seller an email challenging their claim that its not used. MoonlightKnight #2 Posted January 18, 2006 Well she didn't say it wasn't used, she only said " I never took it out of the box and played with it." That could be a completely true statement. Her father could have gotten it at a garage sale and given it to her, and she could have put it in a closet and never played it. Even the auction is listed as a "used" item. Her description might be missing some information, but I see nothing misleading given the pictures and her wording.
black dog #3 Posted January 18, 2006 This listing looks like it was done either by a six year old or someone with an IQ of 40.
A.J. Franzman #4 Posted January 19, 2006 Check her feedback too - 5 negs plus two neutrals all for NPB or delayed payment. I'm not sure I'd want to buy from her, whether or not the photo or description is accurate. Who's to say she won't start to delay or "forget" to ship items too? jerrykurtz #5 Posted January 19, 2006 Hello, Actually, something strange happened. The seller replied and thanked me for letting her know what was missing and that it wasn't in new condition. They even updated the auction's title. Jerry
+HatNJ #6 Posted January 19, 2006 I wouldnt bid too many established sellers around for 2600's plus I dont bid on sellers with a % feedback below 99%
Paranoid #7 Posted January 26, 2006 Feedback ratings are completely arbitrary. I've had several purchases that didn't go as smoothly as I would have liked that I gave good reviews simply because I knew if I left a bad review I'd *get* a bad review... Feedback is at best a good guide... but you really need to read all the reviews, then read all the reviews from those giving negative reviews, to have an idea what is REALLY going on. In this case, yeah, clearly Tammy isn't the sharpest tack in the package... but you get a LOT of that on eBay... especially from the people that are likely to collect Beanie Babies, vintage collectables, etc. I did read it as if she had never opened the box herself, not that she was calling it new in the box... exactly. In my opinion Johnm3058 is part of the problem, bidding an Atari 2600 4 switcher up to 33.50 *before* shipping (or buying it now at that price)... Especially with the reintroduction of the Flashback-II, it seems that any premium on old VCS units should evaporate. You've got quite a selection for 2600 gaming going on right now. Atari 2600 original units, 6ers, 4 switch, Sears versions, the Jr., the Coleco adapter, the Gemini, the Atari 5200 adapter, the 7800... the Jakks joystick, the Jakks Paddles in one and two paddle versions, the Flashback, the Flashback II (with the ability to hack into a full fledged cart based system). I probably missed some... It doesn't make sense to me under ANY circumstances to pay $35 before shipping for a "collectible" item 20 years old, in unknown shape, that is electronic (read: it may be $35 of -garbage beyond repair- regardless of how nice and in the box it looks), when that item simply isn't that RARE. It would be one thing if there were simply NO alternatives... The best analogy I can come up with would be like paying $35,000 for a used 1980 era BMW E3 because it is slightly *different* than the M3 you can buy today (which is still a BMW M3). Not a perfect analogy... but... close enough. It does seem odd that her buy it now prices for other items are $33.50... and this item went for $33.50, although it shows a 9 bid history. What are the odds of that?
