marillion #1 Posted May 27, 2002 Is there a chat room just for 2600 players/collectors? I was thinking of starting one up if there wasn't one... Peace, Chip
Ze_ro #2 Posted May 27, 2002 There's always #rgvc on IRC (EFnet I believe). I've been there a couple of times, and it's not too bad. It's not Atari-specific, although I think almost anyone who considers themselves a "classic" collector would have an Atari. Oh, I should probably mention that RGVC stands for rec.games.video.classic, which is a newsgroup of the same topic. --Zero
Noble Kale #3 Posted May 28, 2002 As a regular of #rgvc, I offer a word of advice - *do not* use the java based irc client (ie: the one on the digital press website) when connecting to #rgvc. JIRC users tend to either be ignored or flamed due to being annoying (ie: most spammers to the channel come from the jirc client) If you wish to try #rgvc, use a better client like mirc or pirch (or, whatever suits your os) In addition, don't call #rgvc a 'page' or a 'room'. It's a channel. (We get no end of irritation from people who think #rgvc is a page on the digital press website). Remember, it's *not* an aol chatroom. The next piece of advice - don't take anyone too seriously. Expect a bit of a 'hazing' period. (If you can't learn to laugh at yourself, we'll do it for you). Also, be sure to read the channel faq: http://www.atarihq.com/rgvc/rgvcfaq.html It contains many points of etiquette that you'd do best to remember.
