Stroq Sourcecode

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I've released the Stroq Sourcecode today. Stroq is a puzzle game that scored 5th place in the 2005 ABBUC Software contest. The unusual thing might be that Stroq is written in Forth ;)

Look here:

Best regards

strange stuff. I probably never gonna dive deeper into this language but it's great to see other ideas and other techniques rather than the usual things like assembler, pascal and java.

thumbs up!

Sure. I'm currently working on volksFORTH. volksFORTH is a F83 Standard Forth with some advanced features like easy multitasking, heap memory management, headerless-code, native cross- and metacompiling.

volksFORTH has been developed for 6502 Machine (C=64, C16, Plus4), 8080/Z80 (CP/M, Amstrad CPC), M68000 (Atari ST) and x86 (MS-DOS) from 1984 to 1989 by german Chapter of the Forth Interest Group (FIG).

I have picked up the sleeping project (projectpage http://volksforth.sf.net) and started development again:

* Ports of the 6502 based Forth for Atari 8bit (sure!), Apple I, Apple II and Commodre PET (already working)

* Port of M68000 to System 6 MacOS (planned)

* reworking MS-DOS Target (new File Interface, in work)

* special version for Atari Portfolio (in work, kernel is working)

* native x86, bootable from USB-Stick

* OCR the (german) documentation, extend Handbooks

* translate Handbooks from german to english

Of course it will take years to finish all this. Any help is appreciated. But the Atari XL volksFORTH will be released soon (I'm already working with it).

Handbooks can be downloaded from http://www.forth-ev.de/filemgmt/index.php

Best regards

Carsten

No, that is clearly a bug.

Can you reproduce that?

What are the steps to reproduce that?

Yes, it is reproducible. I will debug it a little... it seems that you can place a blox into a square that is in the column to the left or to the right of the last blox placed. That is, you can place it sometimes in the correct column, but not the correct row.

I editted in a little more debug information. The red squares show where you can place the next blox. The code is valid if the next blox is only one square away, but beyond that, you can cheat! :)

Please keep in mind that I am not bad-mouthing this game. I like this game a lot, and it is keeping me from doing some work as I have a constant atari800Win up playing it....

Just thought you would like to know about this "feature". :)

The new URL for the Stroq Source Code is

http://atariwiki.strotmann.de/xwiki/bin/view/APG/ForthStroqSource

I noticed at the bottom of your website you mention:

"The Atari Stroq Programm has some quirks when running in an Emulator (such as Atari800). It runs fine on the real hardware."

I was just wondering what those quirks were, because we have a new emulator on the scene (Altirra) to test it on, and from what I've seen the author is pretty quick to fix incompatibilities brought to his attention.
