elviticus #1 Posted February 1, 2006 I'm getting ready to go overseas (to England and Amsterdam) for a couple of weeks, and of course I want to take my GBA with me.... here's my problem: Since my GBA is rechargeable, not battery operated - how can I (or can I?) recharge it when I'm in England? If worse comes to worse, I still have my original GBA which uses batteries. I hate the dark screen, however, so if anyone can offer any advice, I'd appreciate it! Barring that, a good ol' 240/50 -> 120/60 converter is about $20 at an electronics shop.

Are you planning other free-time activities for Amsterdam?

If you're packing small I'd go with that (especially if you have a worm light or flood light). The freedom of sticking in AA's is huge. You could also bring both, plus a link cable - especially if you're traveling with a friend! If you want to bring the SP, you can get another power adapter. It's too bad that Nintendo does not distribute multivoltage-capable power adapters. BTW, the Game Boy Micro, which I just bought, does not have a multivoltage power adapter either. Here are 2 options which cost $20 or less: Option 1: Get a multivoltage converter for battery chargers. The advantage to Option 1 is that you can use it for other electric stuff you might be bringing, or: Option 2: If you are not leaving for a while, Lik-Sang sells a variety of multivoltage power adapters for the GBA SP for $4.99. I'd recommend the USA-plugged one, since you can use it as a second charger when you get home, and you'll need different plugs for the UK and the Netherlands anyway. Then you just need a travel plug adapter kit, which is available in lots of places. The advantage to Option 2 is that you have a second AC adaptor to use after your trip. keilbaca #5 Posted February 1, 2006 Or... You can get a usb charger for your laptop, if you're taking it along. http://www.cduniverse.com/search/xx/games/...BPelican%5D.htm Really cheap, does the job good, and charges faster than the wall adapter. elviticus #6 Posted February 2, 2006 Great - thanks everybody. I think I'll get a 240 to 120 converter, as my wife will need it too for her hair dryer etc. And... yes.... in Amsterdam, I probably won't be playing too much game boy!
Flojomojo #7 Posted February 7, 2006 That Amazon link is a great suggestion - I didn't realize there were real voltage converters that small. Everything I've seen has been only a pin converter, which won't help with the GBA since the brick only does one voltage. One other alternative would be a 3rd party adapter from Pelican, which you can get for $8 or so from Best Buy without waiting for Lik-Sang to ship.
