You might have to wait until the Revolution to hook up with the DS, then again given how Gamecube-GBA connectivity bombed it may not happen.

The cabecube and Ds shouldn't hook up. The Gc and Revolution may hook up. I don't think it would happen thou. The game boy advance Connectivy with gamecube was not opened with arms. People viewed that as a gimmick and and the E-card failed by not having 3d parties involved.

I think linking the DS to the Revolution will be easier than the GBA/GC connection. The DS is WiFi enabled and the Revolution is supposed to be WiFi enabled also. So they should be able to link up wirelessly.

I don't know, I've got about 12 diff games that use it. All of them except Final Fantasy, to good advantage.

Luckily GBA's are about $10 at GameStop, so I just bought a bunch.

But, DS to Revolution connectivity wont require buying a separate cable, it will be wireless. I think that right there will be a big plus for developers

Note that the GBA->Revolution is known to work, but NDS->Revolution hasn't AFAIK been official yet.

I know it works I mean maybe it will actually catch on. Still I wonder what usses it will actually have, since lets face it most games didn't really use the GBA conectivity in jaw dropping ways. Although pac man Vs. was neat often you just needed to much crap for it to actually make it feasible. And I know the DS and revolution idea hasn't been announced but they tried it twice before so I'm just betting they will go for a third.

Has there been an official release as to GBA/Revolution connectivity?

I think it's safe to assume the GBA and revolution won't be connecting, since the GBA will most likely be dead some time in 2007.

I think this is based on how well the ds is doing. The gameboy advance didn't have as much games last year compare to the year before. I think the GBA should be discontinued by 2010. There would be more game after 2006, but don't expect many titles each year. I only see sports games for the most part after 2006. I am basing this off sony playstation one. Sony playstation still had good support in 2001 after ps 2 was released in 2000. Playstation one outside of sports games begining in 2002 to the end of 2004 had 2 big releases that were not sports games or games that were not released on ps 2. Sony didn't play a big role in releasing games starting in 2002 for the ps 1 and I expect similar with nintendo supporting the game boy advance

Most systems real support gets cut after about 2 years of it's new counter part being out. Why would the game boy advance be any different?

I agree, I really can't see any GBA connectivity happening with the Revolution.

After all, the Revolution is a Wi-Fi system, it's going to connect to the DS, isn't it? I hardly think, with even the controllers being wireless, that they'll be selling bits of wire to plug a GBA in. I think this is really just wishful thinking, sorry.

But the Revolution will have ports for cube controllers. Hence it might actually have GBA-rev conneectivity, but only for Gamecube games probably

I'm sure you could probably get the wires to fit, but Nintendo aren't likely to add connectivity in their games for an older handheld. The whole idea of the connectivity, from a commercial point of view, is to get you to buy their newest stuff, surely.

Check some release list for upcoming GBA games. As sad as it is, it's safe to say the GBA is on its way out over the next 18 months or so. I think it's at a stage of its life like where the PSOne was its last few years, budget releases and rereleases of popular games (Like Nintendo's upcoming Players Choice GBA line).

Why would they waste their time with it when the DS is in the prime of its life, gaining popularity quickly, could add some innovative things to console games through the touch screen, and would be able to connect wirelessly?

Nothings official yet, but I sure think if they're going to make it hook up with one of their handhelds, the DS makes more sense than the GBA which is just about dead now and is just riding its popularity and large userbase like the SuperNes and PSX did their last couple years on store shelfs. Development has largely moved on.

Not to raise any unwarranted hopes, but a WiFi adapter for the GBA/Micro wouldn't be impossible.

But I tend to agree that it's probably limited to GCN games at this point... Ntd is already supporting three systems and trying to launch a fourth, something is going to have to give, and I'd expect to see the last round of "AAA" GCN and GBA titles to be coming out this summer, leaving the NDS and Revolution for AAA stuff for a while.

And opening up the GBA market for more "B" titles and homebrews for the next 10 years or so. Those things are remarkably rugged, even compared to a Lynx or GBC (or the SGG or NGB, but those were freaking fragile).
