But let's suppose there was a beta version and FW had missed the announcement. I can't explain why he thought the 600XL was yours, but I can certainly understand that he'd be surprised he'd missed the announcment of a beta (private or public). However, since there has been no announcement of a public or private beta, FW would be doubly surprised to see it running on one of your machines. Surely this comprehensively explains everything, unless there's some additional factor that I've missed.
