Where to put PSP video clips on the memory stick?

Recommended Posts

Having trouble using the PSP to play videos. I installed the Max Media software from EB and it kept trying to go online and find updates. Norton Security had a fit and advised me against. I accepted the advice and then spent the next two hours deleting that virus ridden crap form my HD. Even after uninstall, there were 200 files to manually delete, after starting in safe mode so it did not try to connect online. The best part is, it did not generate playable movie files. I just want to play some videos on it that I have on my computer.

Basically, where do I insert them on the memory card so the PSP can see them and what format do I have to convert them to? I need safe software to install on my PC. Willing to pay, just don't know what to buy. Clearly, this last purchase was NOT the one.

TIA,

Cassidy

I recommend that you go to this link and then follow the tutorial there:

http://psp.connect.com

When you're done, you'll have a folder on your PSP's Memory Stick called "MP_ROOT" and a subfolder of that folder called "100MNV01". You need to put your video files in the "100MNV01" folder.

Your video files also need to be in the proper format before you can play them on your PSP. A lot of people who convert videos regularly tend recommend a program called PSP Video 9.

I've tried it and the audio was out of sync with the video, but that might be because my computer is several years old and the performance might not be what is needed for a program like this. I've heard many good things about it, though, so it should be worth a try.

The program I personally use on my aging PC to do the video conversion is something called 3GP Converter, available from this link:

It's not the most elegant or user-friendly program ever created, but it does the job.
