PacManPlus Posted February 19, 2006 Share Posted February 19, 2006 Hello: I was looking at a 16k board, and a thought came to me: I see just the main ROM on the board, and no smaller chip that contains the bank switching code. (I think it's called a GAL?) Assuming that the bins contain all the information found in the ROM, where is the bank-switching code in an actual cartridge? And when you're buying chips in the tens of thousands, a chip manufacturer will happily add a few dozen extra transistors. It's a LOT cheaper than having to use a separate chip, even a glop-top.
