Sealed Atari 400/800 Infocom Suspended mask box

Recommended Posts

I'm sure there is a crazy infocom forum that talks about these finds also :lust:

I used to love playing zork and putting the cuss words in and having smartass comments returned.

Insane. I mean, this box is probably the most memorable early example of super-creative marketing in the PC industry...

Didn't they change to a box that didn't actually have the face? It just had a picture of the face?

My fear with "shrinkwrapped" stuff on eBay is that I used to work for a place with a shrinkwrap machine (plastic bags and a big hairdryer, more or less). You can't know for sure until you open it, and you can't open it without destroying the value... Heh.

When I first saw this auction, I was wishing I had the foresight at 10 to buy a hundred copies of this and put it in storage. :D

There's a lot of stuff we all wished we had bought a bunch of and saved in mint condition. And we have the hairdryer shrinkwrap combo at my work also. Hell I have some shrinkwrapped Jaguar boxes with no game in them. I do have the game to go with them though.

Thats true. With this item you would also have to reproduce the stickers. Many disk based games had stickers since they used the same box for many platforms.

Yes. After the first run they printed it with just a picture of a face on a regular box.
