carmel_andrews #1 Posted March 6, 2006 I have just been playing universal soldier on a Megadrive and Snes emulator I notice that the graphics and the gameplay, whilst slightly modd'd, is essentially a turrican game or clone (it's even written by the same coding team) Also I would say that Flak (Funsoft) for the A8 is a much better game (grapically) then the game that inspired it, A8 Xevious, the only difference is you don't have anything to shoot at in flak, just bomb the targets
Jess Ragan #2 Posted March 6, 2006 Yeah, Universal Soldier is pretty much the same crappy game as Turrican. What you ought to do is graduate to Factor 5's Turrican games (Super Turrican and Super Turrican 2 on the Super NES; and Mega Turrican on the Genesis). They're incredible, especially the first game on the Super NES! JR
carmel_andrews #3 Posted March 6, 2006 I prefered 'Mega Turrican' (Megadrive), which is Turrican 3 on the Amiga, Super Turrican (Snes) looks like a different type of turrican game Did rainbow art's ever get round to doing turrican 3 on the ST (as i've played and seen the first 2) __________________________________________________________________ Yeah, Universal Soldier is pretty much the same crappy game as Turrican. Ze_ro #4 Posted March 7, 2006 Actually, I think the Super/Mega Turrican games are absolute rubbish. Turrican 2 on the Amiga is still one of the best games ever made in my opinion. --Zero
