FastRobPlus
Hmm... what does he want for it? Am I naive in assuming that the ones who would/could pay for it are all in this forum anyway? Is he hoping that some rich folks take up the hobby sometime in the future? Why not just list it and try and get Kotaku and Joystiq to pick up on the story. You have to assume if there is anybody hidden out there who might pay more than us, that would find 'em.

rbudrick
So I read this whole thread and I know I'm super late to the party. I noticed this page was updated some time post 2009: http://www.atariprotos.com/2600/software/charliebrown/charliebrown.htm http://www.atariprotos.com/2600/software/charliebrown/41884.htm If you look on Archive.org, all the pics on this page look like crap compared to the ones on there now. The page mentioned the cart was dumped by a friend of the original programmer. With this in mind, does this confirm two copies of the cart (or were the two copies already known and I'm just bad at reading comprehension)? The description of the cart certainly sounds very similar. I noticed there were two or three .bins posted, but I didn't load them up because I got a vibe they were a joke and I'm currently at work w/ no emulators available. If those .bins were real, whose copy were they from? -Rob
Wickeycolumbus
So I read this whole thread and I know I'm super late to the party. I noticed this page was updated some time post 2009: http://www.atariprot...harliebrown.htm http://www.atariprot...brown/41884.htm If you look on Archive.org, all the pics on this page look like crap compared to the ones on there now. The page mentioned the cart was dumped by a friend of the original programmer. With this in mind, does this confirm two copies of the cart (or were the two copies already known and I'm just bad at reading comprehension)? While I would not be surprised if there are more copies or even versions in the hands of collectors that are keeping quiet, there is only one publicly known copy (the one pictured on AtariProtos which is the same as the one this thread is about). The cartridge is owned by Wonder007 and the screenshots were updated recently with ones taken by an emulator. I never really understood the 'cart dumped by a friend of the programmer rumor' but I'm assuming he meant that this particular copy was made for a friend of the programmer. I noticed there were two or three .bins posted, but I didn't load them up because I got a vibe they were a joke and I'm currently at work w/ no emulators available. If those .bins were real, whose copy were they from? You're correct, they are all joke ROMs.
Foxsolo2000
So Wonder actually got his hands on it? Three years on does anyone (Wonder included) know what exactly is going to be happening with it?

Later I was given the actual rom by the new owner of the proto and updated my pictures. I never really understood the 'cart dumped by a friend of the programmer rumor' but I'm assuming he meant that this particular copy was made for a friend of the programmer. Correct. Or so I was told (can't remember who told me that though, it's been too long). I guess I should fix that wording to make it more clear. I never go on marketplace so at risk of looking a complete dunce did Wonder actually release Bouncing Baby Bunnies on cart as well?

Tempest
I'm not sure. I can't see why it shouldn't be, there really isn't much of a game there.
Supergun
The community controlled released cart must have had a Melody board (or similar) inside of it, otherwise it would have been dumped long ago. I've never bothered to look inside mine. I always just assume in these runs (usually correctly) that surely someone else who bought one will go through the trouble. Originally, there was intention to improve/enhance the rom (similar to how was done with 2600 Turbo) so it would be more playable & have sound, etc. But time was just dragging along & the owner was kind enough to just make a small run & release it as-is so that we could all get it. The moral of the story here is to always know your history, do your research, and check in around here from time to time. That way you can differentiate between "fluff" releases & "critical" releases. The fluff stuff, is roms that are already public, or soon will be, and so just avoid them because you can just build the cart yourself. The critical stuff is what you must always get because it could end up being the only opportunity you'll ever have.
CPUWIZ
No, some dickhead on ebay is already selling them, stole all my wife's artwork too. Yes, she spent over a week in front of Photoshop to make the label and box (hired to do so for the release).
Good_Times
I swear that I had a Peanuts game way back when, though it could just be a case of cloudy/false memories. I know for a fact that I had a Mickey Mouse cart, though (blue label), as well as a Muppets game or two. Seems like Scooby Doo would have been a natural fit for a 2600 game, and the timing was certainly right....
