Need advice on this acclaim sticker on saturn

Hi all, I wonder if anyone can help me. I bought this Saturn in a charity shop here in the UK, and when I looked at the bottom of the Saturn, I seen the sticker in the pic below (sorry about the quality, my camera phone is the only one to photo the sticker)

It is red, with white acclaim entertainment Ltd, phone number and a serial number, with a AKLM in a box. I was wondering if this was a standard saturn or did it belong to acclaim at some point as I haven't seen a sticker like that before.

 

Also the pads that came with it have been modified with 9 pin Serial connectors on them, one with a male end and one with a female end and an adapter with a female plug one end and a standard saturn end the other to connect the one. Though the console has standard connectors on the front.

 

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Could it possibly be a dev kit? Pop in a burned copy of a Sega Saturn game, and if it plays, you could have a collector's item on your hands.

Those almost sound like 3DO controllers. Buy the saturn and send us some pics of it.

Well, it was definitely owned by Acclaim, and it isn't a devkit...

 

Probably some sort of quality assurance console...you know...used to test games. It might be region modded...but that would be pretty obvious...there'd most likely be a switch...unless they permanently changed the region.

 

Really though...if that came from a shop, I'd be rushing my ass back there to see what they have. Who knows what you could find...Maybe a Saturn System Disc!

 

The controllers...I have no clue...maybe they were being used on something else as well...they sound interesting though!

Maybe it's an item from the Acclaim garage sale when they went out of business that made it's way accross the pond somehow. They were selling tons of stuff then, but I don't remember seeing any Saturns.

There definitely were Saturns when Acclaim sold their stuff off...I'm pretty sure Acclaim had a Eurpean branch...and that's probably where this would have come from.
