Spirantho #26 Posted March 23, 2006 All consoles and computers in the UK transmit on UHF channel 36 - we don't use VHF over here except for radio. Spector, don't be confused by the 2600 issue of incorrect colours when you play PAL games - that's to do with the different TIAs, nothing to do with NTSC or PAL itself. Of course as an NTSC 7800 still has an NTSC TIA in it the colours will still be wrong on a PAL game... the TV used is irrelevant. For what it's worth, most TVs - if you can tune them in - will display an NTSC signal but unless you have more than one tuner in your TV you'll get no sound as the sound carrier is at a completely different frequency. Incidentally, Gunstar, if you want a PAL 7800 let me know - I have about 5 or 6 of things! You'd need it to be modded but I can do that.
Mayhem #27 Posted March 23, 2006 All consoles and computers in the UK transmit on UHF channel 36 - we don't use VHF over here except for radio. There, or there abouts. My PAL 7800 is actually on channel 37 and my C64 and Vic20 are on channel 35. Unfortunately many older VCRs used that frequency as well, causing some interference if you wanted to use both at the same time! This caused further trouble when Channel 5 decided they wanted to broadcast in that range too! Hence a lot of VCRs at the time had to have their internal output changed to a different frequency to accommodate. Today most VCRs allow you to change it from the menu system. Doesn't help regarding Channel 5 for me though; I can't have any of my old games machines on and watch Channel 5 through an aerial feed at the same time.
