Tempest #1 Posted October 4, 2001 I'm getting closer to picking a name. This is the list I have so far: The Atari Tempest (like the storm, get it?) The Atari Dungeon (it's been done...) Bit Rot (or 8-bit Rot) Tempest's Atari Temple (too much of a tounge twister) Any other ideas? Tempest

Tempest #4 Posted October 4, 2001 Ah, but take back one cart to honor Temepst the God who's Webpage this is. And Gauntlet never came in a box, just a flimsy foam casing. I'm kind of leaning towards 8-bit Robt myself. Though this has possibilities Tempest
videotwit #5 Posted October 4, 2001 I agree. 8-Bit Rot is not only appropriate for your subject matter, but it's pretty catchy as well. I like it!

I like 8-bit Rot as well, and the domain name 8bitrot.com is available. Looks like bitrot.com is taken, but for sale. ..Al
Tempest #7 Posted October 4, 2001 I think I'm going to keep my currest address for now since it's free. I'll just sit and wait for Atari5200.com to free up (John Hardie was also looking into it, maybe I'll work with him on a site). 8-bit Rot it is then. Now I need a catchy title graphic. Too bad I SUCK at Photoshop. Anyone out there a professional Graphics Artist? Tempest
Raccoon Lad #8 Posted October 4, 2001 I'm sort of a professional graphic artist. Actually I'm more of an animator than anything, but I've had plenty of general art type schooling. Although you won't recieve any help from me unless you get back to me about the price of those games I inquired about.
Tempest #9 Posted October 4, 2001 I really don't want to split them up unless it's for something I just can't live without because then I'd be left with a few common games and a system. Give me a chance to think about it. Tempest How about a few copy of Cypher?
Raccoon Lad #10 Posted October 4, 2001 If the price is right, I might take the whole lot. and seeing as I've only seen 1 actual 5200 system in my life, I think I'll pass on Cypher. [ 10-04-2001: Message edited by: Raccoon Lad ]

Tempest #12 Posted October 5, 2001 Hmm... I always thought that was the cart label, but I guess I was wrong. Who's box is that? Tempest

Tempest #15 Posted October 5, 2001 I'm trying to come up with a cool looking title picture for my page (and maybe a logo), but I'm drawing a blank. 8-Bit Rot, it must conjure up some image? Tempest
Marco(2) #16 Posted October 5, 2001 Ben, I got this from the Art Gallery on the Digital Press site, which says it's a Gauntlet box. Dunno where they got the picture. Nor do I know if they made a mistake in assuming it's the box. Cheers, Marco
Raccoon Lad #17 Posted October 5, 2001 I had a few free minues and came up with a couple basic ideas for the logo
Tempest #18 Posted October 5, 2001 Neat. I have to think about what I want to to look like, I want something that will look good on my page with it's blue and silver (5200) color scheme. I actually haven't given it much though since last night. Tempest

You are correct - I took a look at the "scan" in Photoshop just now... The only imperfections are definitely just the lossyness of jpeg compression. There are only 2 ways to get a scan this nice: Fake it, or have a high-end Drum Scanner at your disposal. Since most people don't get their Atari stuff scanned on a Drum Scanner because of the high cost involved, I have to think it might just be a mockup (or even more on the side of a conspiracy theory... a forgery). Who knows, though. Is Joe reading this thread? Mayube he can shed some light on the subject for us.
