8th lutz #1 Posted March 14, 2006 (edited) There is one up at http://www.gamefaqs.com/features/top10/303.html. That isn't mine. Here are there top 10 along with the system from that site with my thoughts. 10: Sensible Soccer (AMI)-never played it. 9: Loaded (PS)-never played it, but read it was a good game. 8: Syndicate Wars (PS)-never played any version of this game but was highly thought of by magazines. 7: Eternal Champions (GEN)=loved it but I heard the sega cd game was even better and would be better pick. 6: Fear Effect (PS)-never played it but It is a good game to my understanding 5: Hitman: Codename 47 (PC)-never played it 4: Clock Tower (PS)-never played it. 3: Wolfenstein 3D (PC)-not a cult classic. Overlooked compared to doom, but it is not compare to games like snatcher. 2: Blade Runner (PC)-never played it 1: PowerSlave (SAT)-never played it, but my brother said it was very good Here are mine any order that I played: Crusader of Centy-genesis Destiny of an emperor-nes Startropics 2-nes River Ransom city-nes Powerstone 2-dc Golvellius: Valley of Doom- sms landstalker-genesis Gunstar Heroes-genesis Gradius 5-ps 2 Wonderboy in Monster World (genesis) Would've been more it it was top 20. What is yours? Edited March 14, 2006 by 8th lutz
zombiecraig #2 Posted March 14, 2006 The original Syndicate for PC is much better than the sequel, in my opinion.
Ze_ro #3 Posted March 14, 2006 Loaded is overrated... it's basically Gauntlet, except with character that must have been thought up by a couple of 8 year old kids. Nethack gets my vote as #1 cult classic. --Zero
Bill Brasky #4 Posted March 14, 2006 Blade Runner is a terrible game and VERY cheezy. A wasted liscense.

n8littlefield #6 Posted March 14, 2006 It's missing a ton of cult games...just off hand I can think of: X-Com Grim Fandango Panzer Dragoon Snatcher River City Ransom Gunstar Heroes Astro Boy GBA Beyond Good & Evil Killer 7 I mean, I don't think there is any way to make a top 10 cult classic without putting SOME type of limit, like top 10 NES cult classics, top 10 sports cult classics (Mutant League Football at #1 of course), etc.

I had a difficult time with mine because I played Mutant League Football,Panzer dragoon. Edited March 14, 2006 by 8th lutz
Flojomojo #8 Posted March 14, 2006 This list is going to be a tough thing to make. Cult classic = not popular with the mainstream but big with a small, dedicated group. None of these games really meet that criteria. No one gives a shit about Syndicate Wars or Fear Effect, but that fact in itself makes them neither "cult" nor "classic." You could argue that playing games is cultish in itself. Then we're just talking about unpopular games. Not useful. How about the oldies that were once popular but are now only played/appreciated/modified/updated by the lunatic fringe? Atari games (see Activision Anthology or http://www.atariage.com !) Doom (http://planetdoom.gamespy.com/) Wing Commander (www.wcnews.com) Star Wars games like X-Wing (http://www.theforce.net/videogames/mods/xwa.asp) Wolfenstein 3D (I think it belongs on the list, personally)
chrisbid #9 Posted March 14, 2006 some cults are bigger than others... and what is a cult to an outsider is mainstream to an insider looks like this guy went out of his way to prove how inside he is
SHAGOHOD X99 #10 Posted March 16, 2006 My personal top 10 ---------------------- River City Ransom SNATCHER Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake (well it was as an "English" fan translation hack for MSX Emulators) Keio Yugekitai (Saturn) Gunstar Heroes VICE: Project Doom Jet Set Radio Panzer Dragoon Saga MUSHA ALESTE POLYBIUS *Well this last one isn't so much a hit, as it is a damn good "WTF" urban legend. But it's gained a cult status over the years.
Xot #11 Posted March 17, 2006 Clock Tower was crap on a stick. A few cult classics I can think of of the top of my head are Arkista's Ring, Solomon's Key, and D. Of course, Arkista's Ring is probably too obscure to even merit mention.
blastermaster #12 Posted March 17, 2006 well its kinda new, but amplitude, frequency, and rez are not mainstream...but are amazing... ~Jon
Classic Pac #13 Posted March 17, 2006 When I first saw that list, I thought "You've got to be kidding?". In fact I still am thinking that as I write this. There are so many truly cult games not listed it is just not worth it...and I mean the list. What a load of [email protected]#$%&*
