8th lutz #1 Posted March 16, 2006 (edited) This is one at http://www.gamefaqs.com/features/top10/30.html. I think it was somewhat flowed. 10: Resident Evil: Survivor (PS)-shouldn't be on here 9: Dead or Alive: Xtreme Beach Volleyball (XBOX)-overhyped to my understanding 8: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (PC)-never played but can't argue 7: Shadow the Hedgehog (GC)-how did this get on there. It isn't the best sonic spinoff with characters. 6: MegaMan: Battle Network (GBA)-can't argue but how many mega mans aren't spinoffs? 5: Super Mario Kart (SNES)-liked it 4: X-Men vs. Street Fighter (ARC)-not bad, but I don't think street fighter charactors were in their element. The x-men could be the reason then. 3: Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars (SNES)-can't argue 2: Metal Gear Acid (PSP)-never played it. 1: Final Fantasy Tactics (PS)-geat game. It was a spinoff for the fact it was strategy. any order I would add Super smash brothers(n64) never played but the gamecube follow up,knockles Chaotix (32),Golden axe warrior(sms), Dr. Mario. (nes) it is spin off in a sense he is in a puzzle game. I would take off 10,9,7,2. I don't know if this belongs here or in modern gaming. What is your list? ninjarabbit #2 Posted March 17, 2006 Here's a few of my favorite spin offs Mega Man X Super Mario Bros (spin off of Donkey Kong) I'll agree with Final Fantasy Tactics Street Fighter Alpha 3 (best SF spin off)
figgler #3 Posted March 17, 2006 The Gargoyle's Quest trilogy is even better than Ghosts and Goblins, from which it was spun off IMO.
Gregory DG #4 Posted March 17, 2006 When I saw the title of the thread, I figured Ms. Pac-Man would be #1. Or is that considered a sequel rather than a spin-off?
Atarifever #5 Posted March 17, 2006 (edited) I figured Donkey Kongas would be on there and that Shadow wouldn't be anywhere near it. The inclusion of games like MG Acid makes me think that they're including spin offs into other genres, so I'm very surprised Shadow made it and Donkey Konga and even Metroid Prime didn't. Vic George 2K3 #6 Posted March 17, 2006 When I saw the title of the thread, I figured Ms. Pac-Man would be #1. Or is that considered a sequel rather than a spin-off? Could be called a "sequel". Problem is, videogaming has a serious problem defining what the distinction is among what we would call "sequels" and "spin-offs" and "follow-ups" and "updates" and what-not. One example: I remember when people were calling Perfect Dark "the sequel to Goldeneye". Well, unless it had a storyline that somehow connected itself with the universe of Ian Fleming's legendary James Bond 007 character, I wouldn't dare call Perfect Dark a "sequel". Not that I have played the game, mind you.
JagFan422 #7 Posted March 17, 2006 i don't consider Star Wars kotor a spin off, its an original game based off of nothing of the movies or anything. It happened 1000 years before the movies.
