Tempest #1 Posted November 1, 2001 I've got a sample page up for my new webpage. Take a look at this: Systems Page and select the Atari 2600 Page (none of the other pages are finished yet), and tell me what you think. All the links on the 2600 page should work, including the scan pages. Tempest
Atari-Jess #2 Posted November 1, 2001 so far its pretty good. I like just the black background much more than the H and V lines :S keep up that good work tempest.
Tempest #3 Posted November 1, 2001 The black background goes well with the silver frame that has the link buttons. You can see that here: Menu Bar Tempest
Rhindle The Red #4 Posted November 1, 2001 Hey, I like that. I always appreciate a menu bar with a cool theme. BTW, I've got a piece of concept art for a Cypher cart label I whipped up. Just fiddling around with the game images and ideas that floated through my head. Want me to send it your way?
Atari-Jess #5 Posted November 1, 2001 yeah it fits pretty well...
Tempest #6 Posted November 1, 2001 Sure, feel free to send me any ideas you have for the label. I starting to get really excited that this game is finally going to become reality. Tempest

Just wondering. ..Al

Tempest #9 Posted November 1, 2001 I was thinking about trying to use the Atari 400/800 demo cart music, or a version of it anyway. I beileve the tune was called Disco Dirge. As for sound effects, it will probably just have your average beeps and blurps, it's the music that will kick butt (hopefully). Tempest
Tempest #10 Posted November 3, 2001 I'm got some of my new page up and running. The old stuff is all gone, I've cleared it out to make room. Don't worry though, it's all backed up on my HD. At the moment there really isn't much new content, but I've redone the whole webpage theme (taking longer than I thought). Expect updates and new things soon. One thing that's bothering me is that the web browser says untitled page at the top. I've put titles in the pages, can someone take a look at tell me what I'm missing? So welcome to 8-Bit Rot, stop by and tell me what you think. Only the Atari pages are up now (except for the Jag/Lynx), I'm working as fast as I can. 8-Bit Rot
Atari-Jess #11 Posted November 3, 2001 yuno what though, even though i use the proline controllers alot and it does hurt i still keep usin em even on my 2600!!!! what other stuff you gonna put on your site tempest?
Raccoon Lad #12 Posted November 3, 2001 Hey tempest, you need to fix your 7800 page, it says that games are available from O'shea for $0.80, and we all know that's no-longer true.
Tempest #13 Posted November 3, 2001 Oh, don't put much stock in those page texts, they're horribly out of date. I'm going to change them after I get the pages done. I just wanted to show off the page themes for now. Tempest
Raccoon Lad #14 Posted November 3, 2001 as for the page title, you have: <*html*> <*head*> <*title*>8-Bit Rot<*/title*> but I believe it should be: <*HTML*><*HEAD*><*TITLE*>8-Bit Rot<*/TITLE*> though I'm not sure if it needs to be capitol letters for the html or not, but this *should* fix it. Ignore the asterix's, you can't write html commands on the message board without them being taken literaly by the server [ 11-02-2001: Message edited by: Raccoon Lad ]

I don't think there's a way to do that normally, at least without resorting to tricks with Javascript maybe. I'm personally not a fan of frames, and you've discovered another reason not to like them. If you're using Dreamweaver (which I believe you are), templates will make your life much easier. ..Al
Alex #16 Posted November 3, 2001 I don't know how far you want to take your web development, but you might want to consider ditching frames and using a server-side include of some sort. It accomplishes the same thing as frames, without the technical and (IMO) aesthetic shortcomings. See if your server supports PHP, it's a great language. Atari-Jess #17 Posted November 3, 2001 they make us use frames in school cause they say its better for webpages (lol) perhaps sometimes it may be when the webpage somewhat sucks but frames are not always the best way to go. (oh and tempest, that cypher game looks pretty neato)
