StanJr #1 Posted March 17, 2006 Graphics aside (and yikes! they need to be there) this is a pretty addictive game. I only got it today and I'ev already blew two hours on it and racked up 35K on track 3. Very fun. I had not heard much about this game, no one seems to speak of it around here. Any other Up n' Down addicts?
elviticus #2 Posted March 17, 2006 I agree... I like this one too. The graphics are hideous by any standard, but the fun and challenging gameplay make it a definite winner.
moycon #3 Posted March 17, 2006 Can't say I recall ever playing the game! If it's Stan Jr recommeneded, it must be worth checking out.
NovaXpress #4 Posted March 17, 2006 Up N Down is one of the best of the classics. Even though they're ugly the 2600 and Coleco versions both play like a dream. Sega's post-Bally buyout games are all excellent.
Foxsolo2000 #5 Posted March 17, 2006 Up N Down was one of those few true gems which managed to capture the spirit of the arcade game perfectly. Although I only played the arcade version a couple of times the 2600 is a near perfect translation which couldn't be said for a great many other games
Spirantho #6 Posted March 17, 2006 Agreed about the game - and peculiarly it's one of the very few arcade games I played when it was out, so it has a special place in my heart. Only problem is trying to get hold of the wretched thing. It's a nightmare to find on eBay because it's rare, and also because the name can be "Up and Down", "Up 'n Down" or any variany thereof. Worth finding though! Just don't expect to find a good boxed copy any time soon!
Tempest #7 Posted March 17, 2006 My thoughts on Up n Down: http://www.atariprotos.com/2600/software/upndown/upndown.htm Tempest
+Random Terrain #8 Posted March 17, 2006 I played it a lot on the Commodore 64. I don't like the Atari 2600 version as much.
Lucky Man #9 Posted March 17, 2006 I've gotten past the bad graphics. Gameplay is great...and very addictive!
StanJr #10 Posted March 17, 2006 yeah, I was an idiot at Philly 5 and passed on a near mint copy with manual for $40. I lamented that miss for a long long time. Now I have this copy and I am happy happy.
Godzilla #11 Posted March 17, 2006 ive always been very impressed with the 2600 version of up n down. it epitomizes why i love the 2600, it may not always look great, but the gameplay is supa smooth n sweet. def one of the better 2600 arcade conversions for accuracy, as well. With this and tapper and star trek and others of its time, sega was really nailing the 2600 imho.

NintendoDieScreaming #15 Posted April 5, 2006 Up N' Down was actually one of the first games I played when I got my Atari back in the sixth grade. Still love it. I've wasted many hours on that game, probably second only to Yar's Revenge.
