ATARIPITBULL #1 Posted March 18, 2006 I just started cleaning my garage today when I came across this ultra rare Atari item in my garage. I knew Atari made lots of none video game items, but this one takes the cake. Anyone else here have an Atari item like this?
8th lutz #2 Posted March 18, 2006 (edited) no, I don't. You're lucky you found it. Edited March 18, 2006 by 8th lutz

NightSprinter #6 Posted March 18, 2006 I have one weird item also at my store. My credit card machine is made by Atari. Cute, real cute. I see that almost all over the flea market I go to on occasion (the Atari promo sticker, not the credit card machine).

I see that almost all over the flea market I go to on occasion (the Atari promo sticker, not the credit card machine). Yeah, I see that promo sticker a lot too. That table saw is as odd as the assualt rifles that were made by Mattel. It's pretty odd when you think of a company as making one thing, and then you run across something totally off in left field made by the same company. I about fell over when I realized that Norelco's parent company makes computer parts, Panasonic makes common rechargeable batteries (along with their alkalines, of course), the same Yamaha makes motorcycles and musical instruments, Nintendo used to make playing cards (they probably still do), and the list goes on. I guess I have a Norelco DVD+RW drive. The closest thing to Atari in this computer is probably the video card--the same company made chipsets for some late '90's arcade games that bore the Atari logo. IIRC, Cal Speed and Rush both bore the Atari logo and had 3Dfx graphics chips.
A.J. Franzman #8 Posted March 19, 2006 (edited) That table saw is as odd as the assualt rifles that were made by Mattel. Dude, it's B.S. The table saw is by Ryobi (as you can see, upside-down at upper left-center). The part that appears to say Atari is a slide-out extension to support large workpieces. It's probably just a label, decal, or photoshop job. Just like everything else in this thread, it's bogus. I bet it's a photo-edited fake - it's on the only clean part of the saw (ATARIPITBULL planned ahead) and looks way too perfect. Also, it crosses a ridge where the metal goes from flat to curved, but the letters don't bend at the ridge. April 1 is still more than a week away, folks. Edited March 19, 2006 by A.J. Tempest #17 Posted March 20, 2006 I know this is a joke thread, but there are a number of odd things Atari did make: - Balsa wood toy plane kits - Calculators - Arcade equipment testers (CAT Box) - Video Phones (Atari Tel) I'm sure there are others, but these are what comes to mind. Yup, my boss has an old Commodore filing cabinet in his office as well. I've already told him that I've got dibs on it when he retires. carmel_andrews #24 Posted March 21, 2006 I do remember seeing the Atari range of Calculators (a sort of 80's throwback to Tramiels former compny CBM) when I was in the west end once (in Dixon's, a well known chain of Cons. Electronics and electical stores) it was in one of the shops display cases (thinking that it was a bit too small to be a computer... and it had an Atari logo all over it) the next time i saw one was next door to the Silica shop concession at selfridges (Oxford Street) I also saw and quite recently too, an old Atari 'Touch Me' Handheld games machine (a smaller version of matels or m&b's 'simon'), a 1970's Atari attempt at what was them a burgeoning Handheld games market) In the terminator series of films, when Arnies character is in cyborg vision mode, the text that comes on screen is apparently a 6502 dissassembly of Atari dos's V.T.O.C code (A8 dos that is) And lastly, when I was living in Highbury, North London (early/mid eighties) I knew someone that had an Atari 'Game Brain' I do remember seeing the unit but can't remember much about it
NovaXpress #25 Posted March 21, 2006 Have you people seen the Atari personal recorder for girls? No joke, I saw one at Wal-Mart a couple months ago. It's a femmy-looking fake MP3 player that's really just a low-capacity recording device. But it also plays pixelated versions of Asteroids, battlezone, etc on its screen. I'm gonna go back and see if it's still there. You'd find it with all those NSync video players and that sort of crap.
