Atari pacman glitch

Recommended Posts

Hey I just bought pacman for atari 2600 on ebay and I put it in my atari and when I start gameplay, I go through all the walls. It's like I'm a ghost. and speaking of ghosts the ghosts go right through me too. Is there any way I could fix this?

You actually BOUGHT Pac Man on EBAY?

If there's ANYBODY here that needs a Pac Man, I'll send you one for the cost of shipping. Want 2 or 3? Combat??

Did anybody ever help this dude out with his broken Pac-man?

And, hey, maybe he didn't know Pac-man was going to be so easy to get, take it easy fellas. :)

I remember reading that if you got exactly 100 points and went up through the escape tunnel, Pac-Man would glitch and ghost through the entire screen. I never got it to work, so it was probably a joke.

My thoughts exactly. Pac-Man is a game that I see way too often to a point where it should be practically free.

I have gotten Pac-Man to slide vertically through the maze by pushing up and down on the controller while Pac-Man has dissapeared in the tunnel. I have no idea about the timing or anything, it's all luck when I do it.

I read something once along the lines that if you went in the tunnel and went up and down about 4 times without coming out of the tunnel, then Pac-Man would then be able to go through walls. I tried it a few times and never got it to work, so maybe whoever said that had a glitched copy? I dunno.

Nope, the vertical tunnel thing is a pretty famous glitch. You have to keep trying - jiggle the stick for a while when you go into the bottom tunnel. You'll know you have it when Pac-Man comes down from the top and he sort of "peels" in. The TOP of the Pac-Man actually appears first, and the rest quickly and steadily fills in. It's kind of hard to describe.

After a couple of seconds, he suddenly drops down the center of the screen. You can control him up-down, but not left-right. You can even eat the vitamin pills. Keep trying - it's worth the effort!

Sorry, we've really gone off topic from the original post....

Sounds like it might be a collision hardware problem. How do your other games (which?) behave?

Same thing happened to me when I did have the game. Have long disposed of it, but do remember. That is correct. Don't know why it happens though.
