Need technical information on Playstation memory cards

Recommended Posts

I'm after some technical info on PS1 (not PS2) memory cards.

I intend to build a software + hardware interface, to use them on the 800.

All I have so far is that they use 3.6 V (although one source claimed that 5 V was OK) and have a little info regarding command/data frame structure (128 byte block-size).

The main thing is transmission speed. 250,000 bps. That might be a tough task on the 800, but they use a clocked serial bus which indicates that the host might be able to vary the speed.

Hey thats a good idea cuz those things are pretty cheap and commonly available.

Theres an Article on AMinet about doing that with the AMIGA.

Thanks for that, I didn't think of that approach.

I found some AMOS (Amiga) source. It just uses a delay loop which the user can alter.

So, I'll just have to buy a few components tomorrow, and build the PC interface first, so that I can upload test data onto the card.
