Tempest #1 Posted January 9, 2002 Are there any Classic Videogame screensavers? Something like screenshots of classic arcade games or Atari 2600/5200/7800 game boxes. Unfortunetly most game pics or scans I find are in PNG format so I cant use them with my freeware slidehow screensaver, that's why I was wondering if someone had made one. bangles66 #2 Posted January 9, 2002 If you are saving screen shots from a web page try right clciking on the image, then save picture as, then when the save as box comes up below file name it should say "save as type" you should be able to save the picture as a bmp -bitmap. then if you have photo editing software you should be able to convert it to jpg or what ever you want. I tried this and it worked. I have been thinking about making a screen saver myself but have been too busy to scan in carts and boxes. i only have a few boxes mostly from the o'shea stuff. i currently have no way or should say don't know how to get screen shots from my carts unless Alex and Albert would allow them to be taken from atari age? If I get around to makeing a screen savor it would of course be free to anyone that wanted it. I have just started a project for my wife and I's other collection: http://www.elmoandfriends.com we have over 600 little monsters to take pictures of and get up on line. Once that project is almost done I hope to have time for an atari/classic gaming screen savor(s). Lastly what is the best and easiest way to get screen shots from games? MrRetroGamer #3 Posted January 9, 2002 Bangles66 - It's probably easier to take screen shots on your PC while you are running an EMULATOR for the system in question. Tempest - You should be able to find a freeware graphics converter to let you convert those PNG files to whatever format you'd like. I'd also say to check out the arcade game flyer site, which has 100's of jpg scans of just about every arcade game flyer you could imagine here: http://www.gamearchive.com/ AWESOME!!!! bangles66 #4 Posted January 9, 2002 Thanks. Is there one emulator that is better than the other for capturing screen shots?
MrRetroGamer #5 Posted January 9, 2002 I like to use MESS, it supports MANY systems.
