Call this a short list of FREE prgrams no one should be without. I know you already heard about the free this or the free that. But believe me when I say these programs can make life a little easier, and the hell there free anyway

 

Word Processors

 

Open Office is without a doubt an equal to Word, in everyway. It even goes one better, you can make your own PDF files. It has the capability, and then some. It works on all OSs, and you can download it for free. The only catch

is that it is a 600 meg download, and you gotta have broadband to get it for free. Otherwise you have to pay for the install CD.

Abi Word is a great second program to have, it can read and write doc files like Open Office and best yet if you want to add to it you can. But being under 5 megs you get what you download. There isn't much that I could add expect it too runs on all OSs

They have one program that I highly reccomend to anyone using Windows. IE Privacy Keeper, which clears all those history lists which Windows are know to make. It is also just about the only Windows program, that I know of that allows you to clear your temporary internet folder, without waiting for Windows to allow you to have access to it.

 

Photo program

If you have been looking for a good photo program and don't want to pay for Photo Shop Look no further than Google. They offer Picasa, I admit it's no Photo Shop but what can you expect it's free after all.
