sega saturn x #26 Posted April 1, 2006 But the dk bongos weren't free, the game itself was only 30$, the bongos jacked it up to 50$. Don't get me wrong I think them being free would be great but it doesn't seem all that plausible. You are proposing that had it not been for the bongos Nintendo would have launched a title with one of their major franchise characters at bargin-bin prices? The game was 50 regardless of the bongo-ness of the package. The bongos only affected profit. But I bought donkey konga 2 for 30$ the day it came out. figgler #27 Posted April 4, 2006 I didn't get the premium thing. It seems a little........odd to me to see "Well this is a good game so it will cost more". They do this now too. Consider the new Rampage game which is likely to launch at less than $30 vs. Kingdom Hearts 2 which is $60 Canadian here. I suppose KH2 is the "premium" game of the two. Not sure what exactly makes a game premium though. Could be the amount of content, the expected playing time, or just the amount of hype centring around the release. I'd like to think that the price is driven by development costs though, so that the quick and dirty games like Rampage for instance just don't cost as much to make as the extensive RPG and thus, we see the savings
NovaXpress #28 Posted April 4, 2006 premium means "we're gonna sell a lot of them even at ten bucks over the standard price"
AtariJr #29 Posted April 5, 2006 I really dont understand why you keep saying 360 games are only 50... where the hell do you live? And YES, like Nova said, sony and m$ are trying to make more moola by making the games more expensive... Nintendo will profit by this by having its games 10 dollors cheaper and its system cheaper as well, making it more appealing to the price weary (DS vs PSP all over again)
NovaXpress #30 Posted April 5, 2006 Starscream is suffering from delusions at this point. I suspect that the 360 releases a powerful hallucinogenic gas when you crack open the case. Best Buy: XBox 360 Prices Just try to tell me that the standard price for 360 games isn't sixty bucks.

Best Buy: XBox 360 Prices Just try to tell me that the standard price for 360 games isn't sixty bucks. Maybe you should read the link you posted again. Iwata said that 1st party games are not expected to go over $50. However, they have no control over what third party developers decide to have as price points. 1st party 360 games are $50. MS, just like Iwata pointed out, has no control over third party prices. Now explain to me, how did you come to the conclusion that all games for the Rev STANDARD pricing will only be $50 or less based on what YOUR posted link says? At what point did he state STANDARD pricing is $50 for anything but 1st party titles? Here, we can review..... Satoru Iwata, president of Nintendo of Japan, told me last week that while the company has no control over what its partners ask for their games, "I cannot imagine any first party title could be priced for more than $50." Sorry, wishful thinking/hope/reading more into what was said does not make things true. I stand by my position, wether you disagree or not, that the Revolution will have the same pricing structure as the PS3 and 360.

I said 1st party 360 titles are $50. Just like Iwata said theirs will be. Very simple really.
AtariJr #34 Posted April 5, 2006 " just like Iwata pointed out, has no control over third party prices." you dont get it.. 3rd parties wont go over 50 becuase they dont spend as much making the game... they charge 60 for 360 games becuase they have to have the HD coding and regular coding and it costs time and money... since rev wont have HD that cuts costs. btw this is old news, so im suprised there is this much of an uproar about this... NovaXpress #35 Posted April 5, 2006 With the exception of you-know-what, Microsoft's first-party titles are insignificant (and i promise that Halo 3 will be realeased at sixty dollars minimum). Nintendo's first-party titles set the standard for their systems. The effect is easy to predict: Nintendo's third-party manufacturers are going to keep it as close to the $50 mark as possible. On that list from Best Buy, exactly 8 out of 48 games are priced at $50 or less. 1 in 6. When Mario, Zelda and Pokemon hit the stores at fifty bucks the competition had better follow or they'll rot on the shelves.
